The Bible tells us, that if we are repentent, and regretful, we will be forgiven.
It also tells us that all sins are equal, and not seperated into little sins, or big sins.
Now, if all that is true:

Most people, if they murdered anouther, they regret it, and wish they had not, so they can be forgiven.

Most people, will use the name of The LORD in vain without a second thought.

Now, looking at these two things as the Bible says, and not which is right, and wrong in ones morals, which is worse?

There is a box in front of you that cannot be opened.

Scientists have studied it for years, using all manner of tools, and using proven techniques to determine what exactly is in the box. Over the years, scientists have discovered new things about the box, and have changed their theories about the contents of the box accordingly.

However, one of the earliest scientists to study it, Fred, decreed that the box contained a magic golden egg. And it is this egg that makes gravity work. Now this defies all logic, and goes against everything science has ever taught us about gravity. But Fred said his theory was right, and there's no changing his mind. A lot of people today still say Fred is right, because all the other scientists keep changing their findings. Fred has stuck by his magic egg theory the whole time, though, so he must be right.

Does that make sense to you?

Just curious...

I heard a lot of Christian missionaries in India are mimicking the Hindu religion in order to convert the local population. Some of the things they are doing are:

1. Building temples for Mary and Jesus - to appeal to the native Hindus. (Whatever happened to not worshiping to Idols?)
2. Fathers running Yoga centers chanting Christ’s name.
3. Modifying Sanskrit hymns that glorify Hindu gods by replacing with Jesus and/or Mary.
etc.

I'm not trying to prove anything here, just exposing fault in logic many people seem to use. If the universe had to have a creator because it's too complex to happen naturally, and you freely admit that God is so complicated that we can't understand him OR anything he does, then aren't you saying your God has to have a creator. Surely something even more complicated than the universe and human psyche couldn't have just happened. But he is eternal you say. So something that can be so complex can only be there because it is eternal and has always been there. So why can't the matter composing the world have been eternal? If anything can be eternal then why do we need a creator? If you believe in God I can never change your mind on this site and that's not my goal. I just want to know if that sounds faulty to anyone else?

You have no faith and condemn others for having theirs;
Your children are born bastards because you chose to life as an unpaid prostitute and not be married to the men you slept with;
You have no standards to teach your children, because you had none to live by yourself;
You have no hope to impart on yourself or your children because your life is hopeless in sin----and you're too proud to fix it.

(1) Hinduism--It is not that God created men in the sense the Western Religions believe. Men are actually part of God, the physical body is just an illusion and not reality. So, the goal of men is to realize his/her divinity--so that he/she will be mingled with God and never be reborn.
The soul of human-beings are the reality and not created. They are infact part of God and so uncreated.
(2)Christianity:
Very unclear position. Possibly, the purpose of God was to somehow
introduce sin and make atonement for that by the sacrifice of Jesus that will lead to human salvation.
(3)Islam:
To worship God.
In the Islamic system, each and every human act can be transformed into an act of worship. In fact, God commands the believers to dedicate their whole lives to Him. In the Quran, God says:

“Say: ‘Surely my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for God, the Lord of all the worlds.’” (Quran 6:162)

However, for that dedication to be acceptable to God, each act must fulfill two basic conditions:

1. First, the act must be done sincerely for the pleasure of God and not for the recognition and praise of human beings. The believer also has to be conscious of God while doing the deed to insure that it is not something forbidden by God or the last Messenger, may God praise him.

In order to facilitate this transformation of mundane deeds into worship, God instructed the last Prophet, may God praise him, to prescribe short prayers to be said before even the simplest of acts. The shortest prayer which may be used for any circumstance is: Bismillaah (In the name of God). There are, however, many other prayers prescribed for specific occasions. For example, whenever a new piece of clothing is worn, the Prophet, may God praise him, taught his followers to say:

“O God, thanks is due to You, for it is You who has clothed me. I ask You for its benefit and the benefit for which it was made, and seek refuge in You from its evil and the evil for which it was made.” (An-Nasa’i)

2. The second condition is that the act be done in accordance with the prophetic way, called in Arabic the Sunnah. All of the prophets instructed their followers to follow their way because they were guided by God. What they taught were divinely revealed truths, and only those who followed their way and accepted the truths would inherit eternal life in paradise. It is in this context that Prophet Jesus, may the peace and blessings of God be upon him, was reported in the Gospel according to John 14:6, as saying:

“I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.”

Similarly, Abdullaah ibn Mas’ood related…

“One day Prophet Muhammad, may God praise him, drew a line in the dust for them and said, “This is God’s path.” He then drew several lines [branching off] to the right and to the left and said, “These are the paths [of misguidance] on each of which is a devil inviting people to follow it.” He then recited the verse: ‘Verily, this is my path, leading straight, so follow it. And do not follow the [other] paths for they will scatter you about from God’s path. That is His command to you in order that you may be conscious of God.’” (Ahmed)

Thus, the only acceptable way to worship God is according to the way of the prophets. That being the case, innovation in religious affairs would be considered by God among the worst of all evils. Prophet Muhammad, may God praise him, was reported to have said,

“The worst of all affairs is innovation in religion, for every religious innovation is a cursed, misleading innovation leading to the hellfire.” (An-Nasa’i)

Innovation in the religion is forbidden and unacceptable to God. The Prophet [may God praise him] was also reported by his wife, Aa’ishah, to have said:

“He who innovates something in this matter of ours, that is not of it, will have it rejected.” (Saheeh Al-Bukhari)

It is fundamentally due to innovations that the messages of the earlier prophets were distorted and the many false religions in existence today evolved. The general rule to follow in order to avoid innovation in religion is that all forms of worship are prohibited, except those which have been specifically prescribed by God and conveyed to humans by the true messengers of God.
The Best of Creation

Those who believe in One Unique God, without partners or offspring, and do righteous deeds [according to the above-mentioned principles] become the crown of creation. That is, although humankind is not the greatest creation of God, they have the potential to become the best of His creation. In the final revelation, God states this fact as follows:

“Surely, those who believe and do righteous deeds are the best of creation.” (Quran 98:7)

I wonder why so many folks on Yahoo! Answers dislike Christianity? The basis of Christianity, Jesus' teachings, promote treating others with tolerance, kindness, respect and charity (love). Jesus admonished his followers to feed the poor, care for the sick and infirm, and treat all manner of people with respect, regardless of their race, color or social status. The message was one of peace and love, not hate and anger.

The only time Jesus himself showed real anger was when he saw the moneychangers at the temple (his father's house) place more importance on the exchange of money to purchase an animal to sacrifice, than on the experience worshipping God.

Why not fault those who try to convert others to Christianity by force or fear, rather than simply sharing the message and allowing the person to decide?

Why not fault the messengers and not the message?

Hey God, are you still there?
It's been a long time since we've talked
I'm not doing so well
My life just isn't workin' out

I looked for you the other day
I could swear I saw you standing there
When I turned around and looked back
There was just a fine mist in the air

Was it really you
Were you watching over me
Do you think i need your help
I don't like where i'm at right now

I don't have any joy in my life
But it doesn't feel like thats what's missing
I just don't feel like myself anymore
I used to do just fine by myself

When I was a kid I was afraid of the dark
Now I just feel empty inside
Was it really the dark that I was afraid of
Or was I just afraid of being alone

Am I really alone now
Or is it just my imagination
I've never felt so empty inside
Hey God, are you still there?

I mean god was originally a way of explaining the inexplicable but now science can explain almost everything (it can, it's only the small precise details we don't know yet but for most things we have a better than basic understanding of how it works) and science can't see a need for a creator so there is no need for god. I've heard countless people ask if there is reincarnation how are there so many new people? Umm, I don't know. WAIT! I got it! People seem to be having sex! Apparently this is what causes babies to be born. So under a belief that uses souls in reincarnation (not buddhism) the very simple answer would be there are new souls being born. Man that took so much hard thinking. If there was a soul (I seriously doubt it) then it would be composes of neither matter nor energy so it could be created and destroyed, so yet again a stupid argument is put to shame.

Now under buudhist theory you just look really ignorant when you say this because you obviously know nothing about their theory. Besides the fact that you could be reincarnated as an number of animals including humans. So besides that making your arguement void, the fact that buddhists deny any form of self (souls, spirits, nothing) so it has nothing to do with population. Good reasoning.

Look, I know Jesus wasnt born on Dec 25th. My point is, if they stole that from pagan religions that came before it, then why can we not say the entire story of Jesus is a myth taken from pagan traditions??

If everything just magically appeared one day then why doesn't god do this anymore?
You know all those species that went extinct because of mankind's stupidity?
Why wouldn't god just bring them back?
If he's so actively involved with our lives as religious people claim why doesn't he ever DO ANYTHING?

That God exists?
That a voice you are hearing in the middle of the night is God?
(see my last question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AtHVti8nhWsYKbsUzD92L0Lsy6IX?qid=20060807083117AAZtCSn)
That unicorns exists?
That people are being abducted by aliens?
That the horoscope is a good guide for living?
That there is intellegent life on other planets?

I think a lot of people have selective skeptisism when it comes to unproven claims.

If you believe some of these without proof, but not others, why?
