I'm not trying to prove anything here, just exposing fault in logic many people seem to use. If the universe had to have a creator because it's too complex to happen naturally, and you freely admit that God is so complicated that we can't understand him OR anything he does, then aren't you saying your God has to have a creator. Surely something even more complicated than the universe and human psyche couldn't have just happened. But he is eternal you say. So something that can be so complex can only be there because it is eternal and has always been there. So why can't the matter composing the world have been eternal? If anything can be eternal then why do we need a creator? If you believe in God I can never change your mind on this site and that's not my goal. I just want to know if that sounds faulty to anyone else?

Actually to whoever said it I'm not making it religious and it has nothing to do with evolution. I'm keeping it scientific, to say it was created is making it a religion. Matter cannot be created or destroyed, so that argument holds no wait.

Ok, you can stop answering now unless you have a good answer, no more God is ultimate, God is the creator and was is and will be, that has no logic and has nothing to do with the question therefore.

Just David, thank you for that answer because it poses complete agreement with me actually. If you have faith then you don't need evidence, so don't try to find it, I've said that quite a few times. I agree. Ans yes I would accept evidence. If you found something that you could prove was God's toenail or something I'd drop on my knees and beg for forgiveness in from of all of you. But no one can because it's religion and I choose to not acknowledge religion as valid. That's my choice.

You are correct.
It is interesting that the debate rages on. There is no rationalising one's belief in a religious faith, because it is just that - faith.
I would be happy to let things be except that christians seem to be keen on influencing lawmakers to do their bidding - abortion, marriage, gay rights etc.
Another interesting point to what you are saying is that none of that is relevant to whether any particular religion is correct.
Further, some people seem to think that science is a form of religion, and that scientists are following some faith in evolution! This is not the case. Evolution is just a theory too. The good thing about evolution is that is has some support in evidence, and it does not try to affect the way we live our lives.
Many scientists, and myself, do not categorically state that there is no god, simply that there is no evidence to make a decision at this time. It is an important distinction - if I am not accepting or denouncing your theory of god, then I have no explaining to do at all.
Some people are happy or reluctantly content with having no answer to these questions. It is not appropriate, rationally speaking to say "this is unexplained so we must accept some explanation until something better comes along".
Some of us will wait and see, and puzzle at how some people can be so sure of their beliefs without any solid foundation to base them on!
Good question, and well put.

If you're up for the challenge, check out the Foreword in the Urantia Book. It has a detailed description of the attributes of God and his creations. It details the various levels of reality (existential, transcendental and experiential) and how each relate to the others. It attempts to explain this very question of how God could always be there and how the universes had definite beginnings. I will warn you, the Foreword is not for the feint of heart! :) Some people struggle for years to try to understand that section of the book. It is very complex, but very rewarding once you finally understand the big picture it portrays. You can also continue with the rest of Part I which consists of Papers 1-31 which further explains and expounds upon God and creation.

"""IF""" you could find out and prove that God was created, then that would open up the question -'who created that which created God?' And on and on. No one knows where God came from or how He got here-no one knows. The only ""CLUE"" we have is that the Bible (written before you were born) says that God is eternally existent. That's all we know. To arrive at any more information would require some serious speculation. We could speculate that God evolved from a race of superior dinosaurs-we don't have any evidence, but dinosaurs were here before God was. And there are lots of bones in the ground-and hey!! with speculation --anything is possible, even the impossible.

Someone somewhere out there may find an answer to your question. However, to have an answer to that will necessarily lead to another unending series of questions as to who created the creator that created the creator.......but here it is...... a man lying on the ground looking up in the sky one night. He then asked himself, "who am I? why am I here? Is my purpose in life to be born, to eat, toil, sleep, wake up? toil, sleep then die.? Is that the only purpose? Why of all creations, I am the only one who can reason, write, imagine, and do variuos things and many times different from the animals on air, sea and ground?
To answer those things, man started realizing that there must be an origin, there must be someone or something that started all of these. And then through the man's acknowledgement, everything that has life began to believe the existence of the source of all lives.
To a man who does not exist, God does not exist too. Insects, plants and animals may never know about the God that made them but somehow the elements of nature we also know are reasons why they live, wither and then die. All the elements are needed to form life and the life we have is what we call God. Man who thinks of God as the one who sits on the throne, looking down from a distance, measuring every onze of fault we have committed is still existing in early age of a child. Though HE has a name, he is not what we think he is............................Thanks

I don't think any Christian argues that the complexity of the Universe is proof of God, but rather the order and harmony of it.
See Romans Chapter 1 for verification of this.
I also think it is a vain to try to "prove" God. After all if you require "proof", is there in fact any proof at all that you would accept?
So how would you prove something from the Spiritual realm of existence by using Physical evidence? how much does a Spirit weigh? What does it sound like to the physical microphone?
The position of the Christian is that once we have accepted God (thru accepting Christ) that we have opened a certain bridge between the Physical and Spiritual that was lost to us early in
preHistory. Where early in preHistory, mankind walked with God, due to a condition known as "sin" essentially a corruption of the creation, a separation between the Spiritual and the Physical occurred, which God could transcend, but physical beings couldn't.
Until you walk the bridge of Jesus Christ, your attempts to understand God will be as vain as trying to read in a pitch black room.
Keep in mind that stopping to smell the Roses calls for us to first acknowledge their existence. :)
I hope my answer has helped.
Cheers

How about this one.....those who do not know God cannot understand the things of God. I can't prove anything to you because you must have faith to see it.How can you believe in science though? Scientific Proofs are things that man created in his mind to explain how things work. They are proven theories because we bought into them.Everything comes from within the mind of man.So how can you say it is wrong to believe God created the earth? That came from the mind also did it not? I choose God.I choose to believe that he created the world.I choose to believe that he was is and always will be and that I will be with him when I leave this place.I am sorry you don't

If matter is eternal, then it becomes a religion. It is no longer scientific, therefore it cannot be called science. Good job of turning evolution into a religion though!

Nope, doesn't sound faulty to me. God was not created, because God is all-powerful. Creation is not all-powerful, nor is creation an intelligent being. Besides that, the concept of God is really far too big for any of us earthlings to wrap our little minds around.

no, God is the Creator, God is eternal, no beginning, no end. I don't see where it's faulty logic. He didn't need to be created because He already WAS- IS - AM

how are non living matter "eternal"> why? all things need a cause to begin or exist, that cause was God who started all things> so, who created god you might ask? well, since god created everything including time and space, then he is eternal since he had no beginning or end, time and space have no limits on God>
