The Bible tells us, that if we are repentent, and regretful, we will be forgiven.
It also tells us that all sins are equal, and not seperated into little sins, or big sins.
Now, if all that is true:

Most people, if they murdered anouther, they regret it, and wish they had not, so they can be forgiven.

Most people, will use the name of The LORD in vain without a second thought.

Now, looking at these two things as the Bible says, and not which is right, and wrong in ones morals, which is worse?

the Holy Bible says " for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Rom 3:23). God does not reason within the context of human limitations and His ability to forgive sins is not limited by the cruelty or magnitude of that sin.

Now to some facts:
1 The Bible does not categorise sins into big or little, but only specifies a particular type of sin that is unforgiveable ie against the Holy Spirit.
2 if you are repentant and regretful, but dont ask for forgiveness, you will not be forgiven (" ask and you shall be given........Math 7).

the fact that your sins are forgiven you does not preclude that you might not still be punished! (see " the soul that sins shall die" and also, "no sinner shall go unpunished")

most often, people repent of their sins but dont ask for Him to cleanse them of all their infirmities (records of this sins that the devil still hold against the sinner).

all appearances of evil and sin is categorised by God as unrighteousness. the only sin categorised as unforgivable is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit.

sin is sin.
big, or small.
in god's eyes they are all considered sin.
some sins may have a greater consequence then others.
i believe stealing a penny to a murder there are greater consequences then that of a penny.
sin is sin & god will allow all of us to reap.
you do good, you'll reap good as well as blessings.
if you reap bad & choose to do bad, then you'll reap bad & suffer consequences.
now if u use the lords name in vain, there are a few sins that won't be forgiven. i think using god's name in vain is 1 of them.
whatever sin great or small that a person's done & or committed. now if they turn to god with a sincere & repentitive heart: yes the good lord will forgive them.
the people that use god's name in vain, it's like they're blaming god for everything or whatever they're upset at. that's not right.
remember: in the bible it also states: father: forgive them for they know not what they do.
some people don't think it's wrong at all, but if u don know it's wrong: you'll strongly be judged. if u don't know it's wrong, then you'll still be judged but not as strong. until u learn the truth & learn it's totally wrong.

now repenting is turning away from that sin, not committing the sin again. god will forgive a person that's genuine & sincere.
now if u continue doing a certain sin/s, then you'll be judged by the law & not by god's mercy & grace. you're committing the sin intentionally & not intentionally. remember god knows our heart better then what we realize, think & know.
god says for us to forgive so that we'll be forgiven. if we don't forgive others, our god in heaven won't forgive ours.
sin is sin. sin can take us to hell, not heaven.

Tough question!

I don't remember where it says "all sins are equal", but I'll go with you and try to give a decent response.

On one hand:
One interesting thing I remember from Jesus's teachings is that if you even THINK about murdering someone, or wish they were dead, it is just as if you had actually murdered them. In this sense, the thought and the act are equal. Murder shows contempt for life. Blasphemy shows contempt for God. Contempt is contempt. I don't really think we are truly capable of defining which is worse in the eyes of God.

On the other hand:
We can reason that murder is worse because it causes pain, hate, sadness, mourning, loss, vengeance, etc. Blasphemy doesn't really seem to directly hurt anyone. Human desire and reasoning demand justice and balance. I can't recall anything from the Bible that specificly mandates well defined Earthly punishments for breaking God's laws (i.e. 10 commandments).

Damnation comes from God. The death penalty comes from man. Who do you trust more?

Peace!

Which is worse...? To kill a living creation of the Lord, or to dirty the name of the Lord....I cannot make that decison. And I don't have to. God clearly states that he alone will judge in the end. This doesn't mean we can let dangerous people go free...they must be contained for the good of the many.

Sin that has been truly repented, is truly forgiven. If you don't repent of your sinful nature, you cannot be forgiven. If I know I've done something specific to hurt the Lord, I ask for his forgiveness, but I also ask him to forgive me my weakness, and any sins I've committed by a lack of judgement, or in anger.

You are absolutely right, all the way up to the last additional comment. Where does it say that suicide is unforgiveable?? You are talkngi of a construct of the Roman Catholic church.

The Bible does say that all have sinned, and it says that the wages of sin is death. it also says sins can be forgiven. Splitting hairs beyond that seems to be missing the point.

Neither is elevated above the other. The only sin that a person will be charged with at the judgment bar of God is Denial of the Holy Spirit. Everything else will be forgiven..

Matt.12:31-32

Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

I accept God sees all sin as equal I do not use the lords name in fain but am sure I do other sins so it is essential to always repent and accept the forgiveness offered through Jesus

The Lord does not look upon sin with the least degree of allowance. Judgment is the Lord Gods. God is no respecter of persons.

in basic terms examining those solutions are going to furnish me a nightmare questioning of if those musicians formed a band. Worst Vocalist: Chad Kroeger Worst Drummer: Meg White (even inspite of the incontrovertible fact that I do exactly like the White Stripes) Worst Bassist: Nikki Sixx Worst Guitarist: Herman Lee

Where does it say all sins are equal???

I challenge the premise that your question is based on Sir!

I believe in venial and mortal sin.

PS "Most" people don't even know the Lord's name and don't even realise that "in vain" means without purpose or with levity.
