Some people say that respect needs to be earned by being nice and cooperative. But I can't help to think that some people will never respect you no matter how cool, nice or obedient you can be. Some people, most people respect what they fear.

Being nice is the best way to let people take advantage of you.
Isn't being MEAN and TOUGH the only way to "earn" respect from others ?

Still fuming and bewildered ...

The judge Roy Pearson, who lost a $54 million dry cleaning lawsuit had filed an appeal with the court, essentially, continuing on with the lawsuit.

The Chungs (dry cleaner owners) admit their mistake, had offered $3,000 to replace the missing pants prior to the original court hearing, and had even asked the judge not to fine Roy Pearson during the verdict for the payment of their own legal fees ($85,000). Now this judge is at it again, finding a way to get these dry cleaners.

As a side: WTF!!!!! Is this Roy guy for real? I mean the dry cleaners admit mistake and offered compensation? WTF?

Am I thinking level headed here? Is it just me or is this guy Roy Pearson just out to get vendetta after getting his ego bruised?

I asked a question on yahoo answers earlier today about what I should wear for nights out clubbing when I go to University in September.I needed advice because I'm a size 14 and didn't know what kind of clothes to wear to suit my shape.Most of the answer were great and really helpful but one lady said "you're a fat hippo! Dont go clubbing if youre that big! no one will like you "
I just thought,how unnecessary! Why do people say nasty things to people when they don't know the person and that person has never done anything to them?

Recently I rolled across an article at the Guardian about pop-princess Rihanna. She said something at the end that caught my eye: "The American way is a fantasy. All they care in life is bling and luxury cars." I thought this was odd, considering she was in Europe, and Europe practically gave America luxury: from cars like Mercedes to brands like Chanelle. And the German government buys S-Class cars for its officials, which are absolutely decadent!

Then I did some more reading though, and it seems her opinion is not the only one on the same lines. From Japan to Singapore, Chile to Costa Rica, Capetown to Dubai, Istanbul to London, that seems to be a consensus of sorts: Americans only care for "bling" and expensive things. We are a country of funless wrecks with money on our minds and poor grades.

I know there are people like that in America, and hip hop culture (by extent therefor, American culture) does give off that aura. Yet here I sit, one of millions of American college students

If my friend sunbathes or swims in the pool in the nude, can a neighbor report my friend for indecent exposure?
I told my friend, yes. But my friend insists it is on private property so it's no ones business.

like for example, I am in college, and if I know I need a book for a class I would never even think about buying it at all before I saw if they had an older edition available for checkout at the on campus library because in some cases the older editions are more or less the same as newer ones. And if I could not find it at the library then I would at least look for a used copy. But by no means would I ever actually buy a book at the regular expensive price at the store. I would just go without it until I could find it used. And yet I just see so many people at the bookstore buying books, like they have that kind of money, and I just can't even believe they would actually do that. It almost makes me want to cry sometimes. And it is not just this; it it other things like going to clubs, e.t.c. whereas in my case I would never do anything like that. Although I am 21 I have yet to learn to drive, and even if I could I would not do anything like that because I know I do not have money

She claims to be a descendant of Pocahontas! If this happens they will lose about 300 million dollars that is spent on housing, education, elderly care, jobs and much more? This is in Oklahoma. They already have over 2,000 blacks that they honor from slave days that they took in because the government wouldn't provide for them!

Last night, my friend told me that someone had broken into her friend's car, & had stolen her debit card, & her friend's purse. They reported the situation to the police, and later that afternoon, the police revealed to them that they'd found the people that had taken their things. It turns out, that it was a homeless couple that had done this... My friend said they'd gone to Wal Mart, and bought 100 dollars worth of things...but the ONLY thing they'd bought was food. They basically wanted something to eat, & that's what the police found them doing. Now my friend has a dilemma. The money will be returned to her debit card; however, she doesn't know if she should press charges or not. I told her I don't know what i'd do because I honestly don't. She is torn between compassion,&the desire to prevent them from going& doing this to others. I find this situation intriguing&also very sad.... I told her to do what she thought was best. Faced with the same situation, what would you do?

Me + my friends yesterday were at the mall, we were just hanging around, inside the mall by the entrance to the right. Some girl was going to pass to me and my friends saying "excuse me" in a very very very rude way, so she can go inbetween us by leaving to the entrance. But there was 3 exits and why couldn't she instead leave to the other exits, like what her other friend did that she was with. We were pissed, but my one of my friends all of a sudden blured out "B*tch" and all of my other friends including me were like "don't say that!" there was almost a confict, but it ended soon and no physical fight. Anywho this security cop of the mall came up to us and told us not to curse and not to hang out by the the entrance, we were like fine, we understood that, even my friend who got involve even said "sorry" to the cop. I'm in my last year of high school. I have a friend who now ignores me because of someone else. We've been friends for about 8 years now. Just some months ago, a new person called Jade, started my school. My friend, dave, became good friends with her. Now all of a sudden he has completely forgotten me. He even passes me in corridors without even saying a word to me. He deleted my contact from his yahoo messenger. Now i just found out he had a birthday party and didn't even invite me? how can that be??? we tell each other everything. I'm really sad about it, and now i don't even know whether i want anymore friends, if that's what friendship is all about, i'd rather be alone. He recently sent me a three word email saying 'how's it going'. But i didn't reply. He pretends as if he doesn't know what he's done. I think i'm done with friends as this isn't the first time this has happened. Maybe i'm better off alone.
