Getting my normal haircut from my barber, Brutus. It's usually so boring I fall asleep and he taps me on the back of the neck when he is done to shows me the haircut in a mirror. Anyway, two other customers begin to exchange words. Brutus stopped cutting my hair to calm the situation, as he knew both men. From what I could hear during the yelling, the men’s names were Marty and Shawn.

Brutus insisted they stop, as they have been friends too long. Marty and Shawn appeared to reconcile, but then Shawn hit Marty with a kick to the face and soon threw him through the barbershop’s front plate glass window.

Total mayhem & I was not pleased to witness it. The customer in the waiting area (another acquaintance of mine, Bobby) thought this was funny and stated Marty "jumped through the window to run away from Shawn". At that point, I left, unfinished haircut & all.

Now I wonder if I should have stayed so the police got the correct story. Should I go back to the barbershop today?

It comes down to simple, elementary reason (and most people, especially people in religions, are at this level):
Sticks and stones can break my bones, but names (words) will NEVER hurt me.

Now do you get it......................................?

If you are offended by a word, then you become the word!
i.e. If someone calls you an idiot and you are offended, you're an idiot! If you're not an idiot, you WOULD NOT be offended!

remember.................................

Actions Speak Louder Than Words !

Now do you get it???

and then when you advance past the elementary level of thought, try creating a relationship with Our Creator!

For example: I don't like it when people buy Corvettes, should we ban Corvettes?

Is there anything you would like to see banned simply because you don't like it?

Some people don't like for others to smoke, drink, or use drugs in the privacy of their own homes. It doesn't bother me, so I don't really want to see these activities banned. Do we know what's better for someone else? Conversely, is it possible that THEY know what's better for US? Who should be in control of a person's life, that person or someone else?

If we ban things in order to preserve someone else's health, shouldn't we ban sugary drinks, fattening foods, motorcycles, horses, swimming pools, walking barefoot, having sex, and even rollerblading?

Can we adopt the philosophies of our forefathers in our modern culture? Whilst I am only 21 it seems to me (and I know this may not be the case) life was a lot more pleasant and straight-forward 50 years ago; you had a job, you did it. You raised a family, and if the kids were bright they went on to University; if they were practical they got an apprentiship. Manners were taught from a young age and every school child knew the words of the national anthem by heart, teaching them discipline before a couple of years' national service prepared them for the real world and drilled some discipline and focus in to their heads.

Husband and wife had respect for each other and they both knew their places; the law was respected, and took a more direct approach than today's politically correct system.

The list goes on- does this view still hold merit, in your opinion?

Thanks for all serious answers. By the way I am referring specifically to the UK here, but it's open to everyone!

I was wondering why Death Penalty was abolished in some countries -- maybe I am too young to understand that's why I need your opinions especially for those in the European Union

I know what Religious People would say (sorry -- I don't believe in any religion).

Now, my question is for those who believe or at least "suspect" :) that this is the one and only life we have.
