No drug in and of itself is inherently good or bad, only the manner in which it is used.

EFFECTS OF LSD

POSITIVE
increase in energy (stimulation)
increase in associative & creative thinking
mood lift
increased awareness & appreciation of music
increased awareness of senses. (eating, drinking, smell)
closed and open eye visuals
profound life-changing spiritual experiences

NEUTRAL
general change in consciousness (as with most psychoactives)
pupil dilation
difficulty focusing
increased salivation and mucus production (causes coughing in some people)
unusual body sensations (facial flushing, chills, goosebumps, body energy)
unusual thoughts and speech
change in perception of time
quickly changing emotions (happiness, fear, gidiness, anxiety, anger, joy, irritation)
slight increase in body temperature
slight increase in heart rate

NEGATIVE
anxiety
tension, jaw tension
increased perspiration
nausea
dizziness, confusion
megalomania
over-awareness & over-sensitization to music and noise
paranoia, fear, and panic
unwanted and overwhelming feelings
unwanted life-changing spiritual experiences
flashbacks

IT DOES NOT:

Harm or kill brain cells
Alter brain chemistry permanently, only temporarily
Stay in the base of your spine nor go anywhere near it
Melt your brain or leave holes in it
Make you legally insane after so many hits
Kill you because it's actually poison (The amounts of poisons such as strychnine necessary to kill you cannot fit on a single small blotter paper.)

It is not the drug that makes some freak out. The entire experience is completely in your control and only those who enter into a trip ignorant, fearful, and/or paranoid will likely have a bad trip.

It can trigger psychotic episodes... But ONLY if the person has a prior or latent existing pyschosis. The drug could bring these out, but it will not create any new ones.

After ingestion it takes anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour for it to cross the blood-brain barrier. Only 15% of the actual drug enters your brain, the rest is passed through your urine in the first 24 hours. The trip, depending on dosage, will last from 6-24 hours and you will need to wait 3-5 days before your tolerance level returns to normal or else you will need to take an even larger amount to get the same high. The entire drug is removed from your system in about 3-4 days.

Personal Experience:

I have taken hallucinogens, including lsd, mushrooms, mescaline, salvia, and dmt, several times. I have done them while happy, depressed, angry, and tired. I have taken them in the comfort of my house, in the comfort of other houses, at the fair, at Disneyland, in the mountains, in the forest, and in major downtown cities. Every single one was a unique and enjoyable experience and I felt refreshed and like a million bucks the next day. But I am of sound and open mind and body, so I speak only for myself.

KNOW YOUR MIND, KNOW YOUR BODY, KNOW YOUR DRUGS.

Peace and happy adventuring.

I used to live on this stuff or at least I thought I was. It's a wonder I wasn't killed or worse yet killed someone else while driving. If I was driving during a lightning or snow storm I really got crazy. Once I was driving down a dirt road and was looking at the stubble field next to me, it looked like dominoes falling down.I couldn't take my eyes off of it.All of a sudden I crossed the hi-way. Thank God no one was coming and the road wasn't a dead end. Also after coming down it feels as if your body has been stripped of every bit of strength you have. This all probably sounds cool to the simple minded but its not. It as well as any other illegal drugs out there are not made in a pharmacy and are often made by people who know nothing about what they are doing. Some might have a good idea but not all of them do and it only takes one to kill you. The closest I ever came to death was smoking marijuana that had been laced to enhance the high. First my vision was distorted, then I began to convulse, my heart stopped as well as my breathing. I woke up to having CPR done on me. When I stood up I realized I had wet my pants as well. I'm not making any of this up, please leave the drugs alone for your own good as well as for those that love you.

An important part of what makes human society possible is the common interpretations of the real world, basically, a shared reality. Psychedelic drugs alter a person's reality in such a manner that they can not function in society effectively while they are under the influence.

LSD is particularly bad because, while other drugs can be used in a safe place away from people so that the altered reality has no affect on other people, it stays in your system. The human body can not clean LSD out of its system completely. Trace amounts are detectable in the spinal column for the rest of a person's life. This is the origin of flashbacks.

Another reason is that you can give a "trip" to another person without that person knowing about it. Physical contact can spread the LSD to another person. (Granted, the contact has to be prolonged, but it is still happens.)

I am not usually a hardliner against drugs, though I do not like being around them because of leaglities, but LSD is particularly bad because of its lifetime implications and its potential affect on other people.

Mushrooms still the same as they were 100's of years ago.

Aztecs took them to clense there mind and body - but i suppose where they are grown makes a difference in strength ie.. soil, conditions etc...

Its does open your mind to things and make you more relaxed about issues.

Strengths vary widley with the chemical .. they dont really give a toss about makin good stuff these days its more of a case of makin loads cheaply as possible so back in the day they were most prob more intense than now.

have a cup of tea and a biscuit

I don't think it is "obvious" that one must have first hand experience, i.e. have taken it, to answer. We may have taken it, or spent twelve hours with some poor shattered soul in panic in our arms, or read up on it clinically, etc.

I vote against it for a couple of reasons.

It is illegal, in case that matters to people like you.

It can cause the most profound terror

Its effects can recur without invitation or warning throughout one's life.

It incapacitates you while high.

Other than that, it's a great idea

LSD - BAD for obvious reasons as listed in the link provided. No, I've never tried it since I believe "flying" should be left to those who can, like birds, bees, etcetera.

Bad. Bad. Bad.

Ever heard of 'flashbacks' or 'bad' trips???

It's not nice to see your friend curled up in a ball in the corner of the bathroom floor because a bit of steam went in his face whilst he was cooking dinner and it caused a flashback.

These sort of drugs are not monitored and can contain anything and everything.

Dosage amounts although small are very, very potent.

I haven't done it, but if the Beatles didn't do it we wouldn't have Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds. I love that song.
