I noticed that a lot of negative things are being said about black women and their looks and the way they act. Some examples are:
Black Women are all overweight
They are trying to have hair like white people
They are loud and obnoxious
They are unattactive in general
They wear light colored contacts bacause they want to be white
They are on welfare with tons of kids

And these are just some of the things I keep hearing and seeing on this site. Why in the world would someone think all black women are like this? I think that everytime someone sees me who isn't black thinks I do those things I mentioned above. It's so hard trying to overcome stereotypes like those. Why should I have to?
And why aren't black men picked on as much? Does being a black woman have to be this way?
Ps. I know everyone gets picked on. I just noticed that black women gets the worst of it. It should'n't be this way. And if you have an insult, please try to be nice, or don't answer the question.

Let be preface my question with two statements:
1) I am not racist despite what you may believe due to my question
2) Not all black people are like this

Now for the question:
If black people desire respect, as do all of us, then why do they refuse to act respectable? Why should someone receive respect when they constantly pervert the English language by writing and saying words completely wrong (ie: da, dat, blang-blang, mo instead of more, fo sho, fo shizzle, etc., etc., etc.)? Why should someone be respected when they have gold and diamonds in their 'mouf?' Why should someone be respected when they can't pull up their pantsto hide their boxers and whose shorts go to just above their ankles? Why should we respect people that glorify crack, guns, and hoes? If people want respect, they have to earn it. I'm not saying they have to conform completely to society's standards, but if they want respect, they'll have to meet halfway. Until then, why do they complain about it so much?

There are hundreds of organizations trying to build self-esteem, leadership, and responsibility in young women, but few for young men. I strongly believe the best future for women INCLUDES strong men, not EXCLUDES them.

I am a single parent. I did get pregnant by a black man, but I don't think all black men are runaway losers. Just the one I dated, LOL. Anyway, I know several black men who have sole custody of their children and do a damn good job raising them. I also know a LOT of black men who are not with the mother but take a serious interest and show deep concern for their children and will do anything for them. Just because only one person lives in the house, doesn't mean the other doesn't care. So why do the low life black men get all the attention by society and those good caring and loving fathers are considered few when they are out there in large numbers.
