Let be preface my question with two statements:
1) I am not racist despite what you may believe due to my question
2) Not all black people are like this

Now for the question:
If black people desire respect, as do all of us, then why do they refuse to act respectable? Why should someone receive respect when they constantly pervert the English language by writing and saying words completely wrong (ie: da, dat, blang-blang, mo instead of more, fo sho, fo shizzle, etc., etc., etc.)? Why should someone be respected when they have gold and diamonds in their 'mouf?' Why should someone be respected when they can't pull up their pantsto hide their boxers and whose shorts go to just above their ankles? Why should we respect people that glorify crack, guns, and hoes? If people want respect, they have to earn it. I'm not saying they have to conform completely to society's standards, but if they want respect, they'll have to meet halfway. Until then, why do they complain about it so much?

First and foremost, it is unfortunate for some black people that those are the black people who are most well known to the general public. I wish they would be less visible, and people like Conde Rice, my black professors in college and the likes would rise to the surface of the public eye. But you beginning by saying you are not racist means nothing. You attempt to ridicule black people, mock them and whatever else, and you try to hide it beneath your so-called quest for knowlege. Spare us all. If you're going to be a racist, stand up and be counted.

"If black people desire respect, as do all of us, then why do they refuse to act respectable?"

First off who is 'US'. When things are seen as 'US' and 'THEM, then you will always have problems. Acting respectable... hmmm...how do you mean. "I've seen a 10 year old curse her mother out at chuckie chesee because she didn't what she wanted" Do I think all white kids curse out their parents...no, I don't.

"Why should someone receive respect when they constantly pervert the English language by writing and saying words completely wrong (ie: da, dat, blang-blang, mo instead of more, fo sho, fo shizzle, etc., etc., etc.)?"

Actually slang and broken language is a way lot's of languages are created. So in a way they may be evolving or creating and you may just feel left behind. By they I rarely speak with slang...I must not be black.

"Why should someone be respected when they have gold and diamonds in their 'mouf?'"

"Why should someone be respected when they can't pull up their pantsto hide their boxers and whose shorts go to just above their ankles?"

I agree those Grunge white boys with their pants scrubbing the ground. Should never get a job.

" Why should we respect people that glorify crack, guns, and hoes?"

That damn eminem..oh he's not black

"If people want respect, they have to earn it. I'm not saying they have to conform completely to society's standards, but if they want respect, they'll have to meet halfway. Until then, why do they complain about it so much?"

My point exactly. Why are you complaining about some things that might be part of someone elses culture instead of meeting them halfway. I mean black people have given away African roots, language, clothing, dance, art, music and still no respect. They are not African because they been cheated of their culture, not excepted by America. So they created a new culture and different culture. why don't you learn how to speak OUR language, read OUR books, learn of the important people in OUR history, learn about OUR lives. Then we can talk respect.

Ok, you said not all black people are like this. Yet, you ask a question like this. This is the kind of thing I hate! You condem a whole race just because of what some of the people in the race do. Why does this not ever happen with white people? If all I saw was white trash everywhere I went, I wouldn't say something like "If white people don't want to be called trash, why don't they stop acting like trash?" Do you know why? Because It's NOT ABOUT BEING WHITE OR ANY RACE! You are not responsible for the white trash, and I don't think I have to be responsible for the people in my race you are speaking of. I don't care how many times you say it, you are a racist. Ok. I'm done now.

There is a respect you earn and one you deserve.Everyone has the right to demand respect to be treated as a human.People have died so Americans can have freedom of speech,to live a life free of others standers.
I hate rap, looking at others underwear, trying to understand what they are saying. But praise God we are free to express ourselves. You will always have people who place the race card(no matter what race)they are lazy people looking for a free ride.Drugs, guns and hoes are a part of every race.
I don't know if this helps ,but just enjoy the difference. Then thank God you live in America.

We are all born of blacks, but I do agree that to be respected you must do things properly, you don't respect a brain surgeon who uses butter knives and makes his patients brain damaged, but there is room for slang. Just don't expect slang to be the norm when it's just a chopped up version of a word that already exists, or is derogatory, or is for a specific clique of people.

Anyone who glorifies self destruction, destruction of others, or degradation of others shouldn't be respected.

I believe some people are raised to be racist and complain as a way of getting back at the people they believe are attacking them. Those people just need to outgrow their parents ignorance and arrogance and make friends of other races, real friends, and let nature take it's course and weed out the dinosaurs.

If you don't believe we're all from one black woman, check PBS.ORG, the link I'm leaving below.

Are you trying to say white people don’t have just as many faults?
Do you realize how many small-town white trash meth heads are out there? That is the least of it though. White people are no better then black, and if you actually believed that, then you wouldn’t be posting such stupidity.

And you say you are not racist? Excuse me, but it sure sounds like you are.

You could be more respectful in your question and you know it. EVERY race has its underclass.
