I'm an Indonesian who's studying in Singapore. When someone asks me "Where are you from?" what should I tell? My place of birth or the place I"m living?

Usually when you're in a different country other than your country of origin, and people ask you that question, they wish to know which country you are from.

Tell them the place you consider home. I went to school in St. Louis, but always thought of myself as a New Yorker during the 4 years I lived there. Some people I went to school with ended up living in St. Louis & knew they wanted to stay there long before they were done with school. If you consider yourself Indonesian, I'd think you should tell them you're from Indonesia unless the specific circumstances tell you they want to know where you're living now.
