I hired someone to work for me, but he isn't capable at all, he makes it twice the work it is so I can't have him around, but he's a nice guy who needs the money, and I do feel sorry for him but I'm not a bank..

More to the point, at what stage in the development of civilization did (male) monogamy become the desired norm. As there is ample evidence of polygamy in other cultures, I wonder if it is mainly a Judeo-Christian concept, and when this developed?
