I hired someone to work for me, but he isn't capable at all, he makes it twice the work it is so I can't have him around, but he's a nice guy who needs the money, and I do feel sorry for him but I'm not a bank..

I realy want this person not to remember me as the B**ch who fired him, and honesty I ve tried and tried over and over again... I even gave him a list of what to do.... He is just not getting it, and honesty is a bit tough when you need to say "yo stupid, hope you can find your way home at least" I mean this as a serious question!!

I would never let him go by e-mail! That's unfair! The weird thing is that I did in fact stumble upon someone who seems to be right for the job, but I don't want the other guy to think I dumped him and behind his back found a new help.. (the job is taking care and fixing stuff/renovate my pasture and stables, 6 horses in total

Sit down with him and hand him the letter then say kindly to him, "I'm sorry, you did great in your job, but we did not find your expertise and strengths in need in this company, I am afraid we have to let you go!."

Have you confronted him about his work? Just take him into the office and have a chat to him - he probably knows he isnt up to scratch really. Maybe suggest to him where his strengths do lie and what you think he would be more suitable for. Honesty, in a nice way, is always the best policy so just be tactful, point out his good points eg. punctuality or whatever so as not to knock the stuffing out of him, but be organised, you know cover your legal requirements etc. tell him he is a really nice guy but not suitable for the job he is doing. Hope this helps I know it is a tough call. Maybe give him a weeks notice to find another job and time off for interviews or something like that

Why don't you talk with him and tell him it's just not the right fit and tell him you think he is a nice guy and you will give him a few weeks to look for a new job. Unfortunately there is a girl in my company who makes $75K and knows nothing and the boss hates her but won't fire her (it's not because of her looks or anything like that either) it is really annoying b/c I could do her job with my eyes closed and It pisses me off b/c she creates chaos for everyone else around her. The workplace is not fair at all...hey what kind of employee are you looking for maybe I can work for you? LOL Good luck and it's nice to know some bosses have a heart.

Some places give you a 90 day trail. Different states have different laws about firing. I live in KS they don't have to give you a reason for firing you.

I've been fired twice in my life and both times were harsh. Be honest tell them things aren't working out. If they ask why, explain. As long as you are honest and polite there's nothing more you can do. No one said being the boss was easy and that's one of the hard parts about being the boss.

I was fired once, and the guy was really good about it. First of all, he did it in private. Secondly, he included some severance pay (I know you are not a bank). Then he asked if I wanted to say goodbye to people at the job or just go, up to me. It was then immediate, I left right away. He also gave a story of how he was fired once, and it turned out to be a big improvement in his life. It sure was in mine- I was in insurance and now I'm an entertainer, happy as a clam!

Make them work realy hard all day, give them extra work, andything messey that needs to be done get them to do it.
Then at the end of the day call them into the office tell them you think they smell, there usless, they have no braind dont know their *** from their elbow look ugly fat and have a face worse than a bull dogs bottom. Them tell them to piss of and never come back and that your not paying them anytthing. And say there are plenty more on the dul who can do your job so i dont realy give a **** how we treat you.

Is there anything else he is capable of doing for you work wise or do you know anyone else in business who might have something for him that would be better suited to his needs, if neither are the solution then your just going to have to be very honest and give it to him straight and tell him he isn't what your looking for in your line of work, much better to be honest now then end up broke and penniless later down the line because of someone else incompetence, as hard as it is sometimes we all have to be cruel to be kind.

Tell him in simple words he is being let go. And give the reason that he isn't doing his work well.

You just tell him that you realize that things are not working out for either of you. It would be best for you to find something else.

Did you put them on a trial basis?? I dont think you can sack anyone without having given them first second and written warnings now adays because then they can sue you. Try looking on the ACAS website.
