Less people are going to college for many reasons. Money being one. In todays world, it's very hard for parents to pay for a higher education for their children, especially the working class. We try and we try and we try to get ahead but it seems only the rich are getting anywhere. With prices of everything from food to gas to school fees going up more and more every year, but the pay for jobs not rising, it is becoming increasingly harder to even survive in todays world. If you weren't lucky enough to be born into money, then this world is going to seem like a cruel, cold place and that's just the honest truth....Been there, done that and still living through it. I'm no worse than anyone else and my children are no less deserving but do I see them going to college unless they get some sort of financial aid? Not at all. And then I have to hope they are smart enough for someone to accept them. It's the same as it's always been, those who have will always have more and those who don't will be left behind. It's a sad but true element of life. We tend to look more at what people have than at who they are. I've personally known several people from lower to middle class families who think college isn't even an option for them because of either financial reasons or the fact that others have made them feel less....they don't believe in themselves or think they're are good enough to get that education they so deserve. Another reason for this is that people with degrees are finding it difficult to land jobs so to some they wonder what the heck is a college education worth if after you get out you can't even put it to use. And lastly, this world has become more and more dependent on drugs which is having an effect on our children. They are dropping out of school or dropping dead for that matter, dwindling the number of young people heading off to college to make a life for themselves.

Well, since the cost of college is becoming astronomically expensive, It's not that hard to believe that 1 in 4 have a college degree. Hell, I'm 8 classes away from my Bachelors and already have a $50,000 tab and it's going to cost me another $16,000 to finish. And, nowadays, a Bachelors Degree is becoming more and more obsolete and more employers are looking for people with Masters. So that's another gajillion dollars.

I am working on mine, it is a shame that more don't.
But this is a positive thing for those that do, the market would be flooded if the stastistics were higher and it would be harder to get a job and the pay would be lower for those with a college education.
