Why does America cater to the Hispanics?

When my Irish ancestors came to America no one catered to us, we had to work hard for respect and our stay in America.

The liberals require everyone to kow-tow to this group of immigrants especially, because their numbers are so big and that translates into more Democratic votes. Spanish is forced down our throats on packages of anything we buy. We are constantly being given a choice of Spanish or English even when we call our own government offices ! If a group of Mexicans ask for something, the Dems jump to give it to them so they can add another group of people to their voting base. Whoever heard of Cinquo-de-Mayo before 5 years ago? How many hospitals are going bankrupt on the border because of free medical care being given to people who do not have health insurance, nor any way to pay, yet intentionally cross the border for good American care at Americans' expense? The ACLU even wants to sue the American and Arizona governments because several illegals from Mexico tried to cross the desert into this country without water and died !!! Since Arizona does not have water taps and faucets every few feet throughout the desert, the ACLU said they were negilgent and contributed to these peoples' deaths. Legals and illegals here, write home, tell families how the Americans give them everything they want or need AND they can sue people if it is not given to them. No wonder we have an immigration crisis. Until we, as a people, unite behind this one issue at least, and until the Liberals are finally put out of power in Congress AND THE MEDIA, we will not see any change.

By referring to Hispanics you're making a very broad statement because a Hispanic is anyone who speaks Spanish and there are many countries in America, Europe and even Africa where Spanish is spoken and where Hispanics could come from.
The Hispanic population is the biggest minority in the USA, coming before blacks. That tells you that about every state has a large number of first, second, third or fourth generation Hispanics. Mainly, second, third and fourth generation Hispanics don't speak Spanish anymore and have already assimilated the American culture but they're still counted as Hispanics in census since the term Hispanic is many times used instead of Latin, which would be a better description.
The translation services are helpful to those new immigrants who haven't been able to learn English yet and it benefits both the customer and the company providing the translation service. After all, the Hispanics pay with American dollars for those services they receive.
Your statement about the illegal immigrants not paying taxes is not correct. Unless if a person is getting paid cash, every person who works and gets paid with a check gets the standard deductions applied to their salary: FICA, Social security, federal and state taxes. Most illegal immigrants get normal jobs at many companies by presenting phony documents and the companies that hire them are most of the times unaware of their status. That will change with the new law that is passing in congress about document required for recruitment.
About the benefits they receive, I can tell you that the government won't provide food stamps or medical care to a person who can't prove their legal status. The exceptions are pregnant women who receive free treatment no matter what their legal status in the country, and only while pregnant.
When your Irish ancestors first came to America in the late 1800's they were segregated and rejected just as Hispanics are being rejected by the American society now. After the Irish it was the Italian and then the Asian who suffered rejection. Eventually they all were assimilated into our society, it just took years for it to happen. From what I've seen in college, hate is now being targeted at Arabs and Indians. The reason is the American fear to melt with a new race and culture in this American melting pot. There is a general social fear of losing the identity and culture that makes our country what it is: a powerful nation. But I can assure you that it only takes one generation for the children of immigrants to cut ties with their parent’s country and assimilate into our American culture. The proof is the large number of Hispanic youths who enroll in the military forces to serve and protect the USA, showing this way their love for their country of birth.

Welllllllllllll, it's not 'catering' to them so much as it's just that there are so many of them!!!!!!!!! If, instead of Hispanics, there was a flood of Macedonian people to our country, the same thing would happen!!!!!!!!! I do think any foreigner should learn our language, though; can you imagine living in any other foreign country and getting by without learning their native tongue?
