Let's say your kid plays baseball and he has a game today. You tell him you believe in him, but you're too busy to go and watch his game, and secretly you really don't think his team will win. Is it possible to claim to believe in a person or cause (i.e. gay rights) and not act upon it? Shouldn't a true belief dictate, to some extent, the way you live your life?

All of a sudden there is an uprow to keep indivduals of Mexican heritage out of the USA. WHY? Mexico helped settle the USA? Is this a ploy to take focus off of other important things that are going on in our world. I really would like some help in understanding why all of a sudden these people are no longer desirable. What are we coming to? This nation was made up of immigrants. Read the early days of California. I am a firm believer of becoming a citizen of ones country, and they should do so. When you fight and die for a country without being a citizen how much more loyality can you ask for? Please help me to understand.

I'm curious to read about how people get by without reliance on electricity and technology (yeah, I realize the irony of this post.)
Any suggested books or web resources on how to live without electricity and utilities?

In your own words, what makes someone cool? Is it the things you do or how you act (your attitude) or a combination of the two? Are there certain things (activities) you can do to be cool?

i'm not embarassed to say that i do (although i probably should be) and that it's the greatest band ever. i call it Entropy (i hope that name isn't already taken) and all the band members that i have imagined have full background stories. i know it sounds lame because it is, but i don't care. i just hope one day i can bring the music of Entropy to the masses.

If you go to a school where cliques are present you probably know what I'm talking about.
Prep? Goth? Punk? Emo?

From your memory, or your imagination, or maybe what someone told you. Do you believe the people being called "hippies" today carry the same value systems and goals (or lack thereof) as those in the 1960s? What do you think the 1960s hippie was all about?

The number of Non-hispanic white Americans living in poverty rose the greatest among all groups, to 8.6 percent and 16.9 million people in 2004, an increase from 8.2 percent in 2003. The poverty rate remained unchanged for African Americans at 24.7% and Hispanics at 21.9%. The rate decreased for Asian Americans from 11.8% in 2003 to 9.8% in 2004.

Please note, I said "racial" statistic and not "racists" LOL

I recognize it doesn't always make the cut, but it certainly made my list, and those of several others. So for those of you who answered my "48 hours before you die question," and for anyone else really, why is it that 'lots of sex" tends to make the list quite often?

Any insight?

[Wit and humour and welcome, but please post polite answers. Thanks.]
