who said so? not if Chuck Norris could help it. It should be a written law of punishment that any lawbreakers would be roundhouse kicked by CChuck himself. The sheer ferocity of this kick would drop the crime rate to near zero, if any...

It may be true, but we can't know. The only thing you can say with certainty is that there is more REPORTED crime in the U.S.
I think one reason for this is because people find that it is beneficial to report crimes, in that the cases are often solved. Also, it is true that most people in the U.S. are not AFRAID to report crimes, as they might be in some other countries.
But there's no doubt that the U.S. does have a lot of crime in some areas. Other parts of the U.S. have virtually no crime, and people leave their houses unlocked all day and night. But even in the high crime areas, it pays to ask why. I don't think there is an easy answer, but part of it might be that the U.S. brings together such diverse cultures, and sometimes these cultures clash in criminal ways. I think that accounts for why there might be more confrontation than you might see elsewhere.

Some countries still do inhumane executions - and I imagine the people in those countries would be hesitant in committing a crime. (In some places, people are tortured to death - not a nice way to go).
In some other countries, drugs (at least some) are legal - so using them would not be a crime, and they are bought at legal places (so no drug dealer crimes).
Some countries take care of their own better that we do -- health care for all, food and housing for all, etc. - so people would be less likely to steal (or even murder just to get some food/money).
Think of the countries where jail make US jails look like hotels. Think about the fact that some of those people never get out, and are tortured while in.
All I can think of right now, but I'm sure there are more reasons.

I don't think we have more crimes than some other countries but we do have a lot. Probably because we have so much freedom. Also drugs has caused a major problem. I think our prison system in many states has become to easy for the inmates. So its no big deal if they have to go back. At one time they had to plant their own crops and raise there own food to eat. Now its just brought and served. They don't have to work as hard in prison. I think so many of our offenders have taken advantage of our right of freedom. Its to bad.

Well, there are not. You just hear about crimes in the US more than any other place because the US media is better at reporting them.
Take Columbia, for example. The entire tip of Columbia is so full of criminals that all of the farmers who live there had to move to the cities and some to other countries because of the threat of being kidnapped for ransom.

Because we find excuses for them - Urban survival syndrome, temporary insanity, etc. and our court systems suck.
We also give celebrity status to criminals.
I lkied it whenthe kid who vandelized people's cars in Singapore literally had his A^^ whooped. We need more A^^whooping.
We also need social structure where people are close to each other and there is a sense of community and neighbourhood.
We need to find ways to stop hating each other based on race, religion, skin color and political inclination and put our energy into hating crime.
Republicans hate Democrates so much that they would support NRA - no matter how stupid the proposals, just so they can assert their 'conservative ' bias.
Democrates hate Republicans so much that they would stand by violent criminals and let them be on the streets just so they can assert their 'liberal' bias .

Because the US has a better reporting system. We really don't know how bad crime is in other countries. If other places had the same reporting system I bet there would be some that are worse.

There is no sense of family here in the us. No father means no respect for authority. Divorce is everywhere. This goes on because in the USA if there are problems, we think we can just bail out. Loss of fatherhood is the best reason for crime in the USA.

I like to think of things in a ratio, or a dumb a*s per capita. The more people that are around you, the more chance there is of you running in to a dumb a*s. It's the same in other countries too, it's just that they're either to lazy or chicken *&%$ to do what is on their mind. So in the end I guess it's a price to pay to live in the country that has balls the size of church bells.
