Christmas - December 2006

I have always found this time of year depressing. A lot of it stems from the crass commercialization, a quiet introspective holiday is my wish. I found out some years ago though that light deprivation has a lot to do with it. A full spectrum light placed so that some enters the eye can help a lot.

Okay, I know this has been asked by other users, but my boyfriend is different. The 22 will be the mark of 3 months. Even though he is a boy, he doesn't like video games, he likes to read and he likes to eat and swear. Um, he is kind of dorky, and I know he won't like a playboy subscription. I was thinking about getting him a book, but is that too dorky to do? He won't tell me what he wants and I just have no clue what to get him. Any ideas?

In other words, if you were to remove the gift giving as part of the holiday, would the children still get as exceted about it?

There are never presents under the tree. She also puts fake presents under the tree so when other family members come to visit they think me and my sister are getting gifts. The fake presents are just empty boxes with pretty wrapping covering them. Is this weird? Why would someone do this?

ok..so my husband an i are broke this year for christmas due to unforseen bills. so we decided to make baskets for family members this year.. in the baskets we put a fleece blanket, a sauce gift set, a jar with stuff in it to make their own chili, box of lindt chocolates, a tree ornament, a cell phone accessory, some mugs and some tangerines! would you like this as a gift..or does it suck..be honest..thanks
