In other words, if you were to remove the gift giving as part of the holiday, would the children still get as exceted about it?
Personally I doubt it, but what do you think?

Personally, I don't think they would get as excited, but I'm sure they would still be excited. Think about other holidays. There is no tangible gain in many other holidays, and yet children still get in the "mood" for stuff.

But it does make a huge difference in how they perceive spending their time on a holiday.
