Ok...who hasn't been on a budget and made themselves more broke during the holidays? Anyone would appreciate the gift. The fleece blanket and chili are a great ideas, maybe instead of tangerines you could do cocoa or tea. That way they have something to put in the mugs. Your idea will be original and personal. A gift that everyone would like to get!

Just a thought: I have been on a budget before and I love giving these types of baskets. I looooove the dollar store. Here is what I do, hit the video store and get tubs of the unpopped popcorn and a few $5 gift cards. Then I head over to the dollar store & grab a couple bottles of coke per gift, 3-4 boxes of theater candy per gift and some microwave popcorn bags. I put tissue and the contents inside a popcorn tub, wrap it up with a sheet of cellophane, tie on a bow and viola', you have a gift for less than $15 per gift that can be given to ANYONE. Families especially love this, but single folk have told me this is the best gift too. When things are not so tight I do the same with some extra gift cards. Merry Christmas!!

I believe that your gift is very nice. When you put thought, time and effort into a gift, it makes that gift extra special. A gift that is given with a great deal of love is priceless.

I belong to a big family and every year I receive gifts that somebody just pulled off of a shelf and did not bother to put any thought into it. Christmas is getting way too commercial. People just give gifts so they can say that they gave a gift.

When I was younger my family did not have very much money. We would make Christmas ornaments and give them as gifts. We would put hours into these ornaments. To this day, even though my family is doing better financially now, we still cherish those ornaments. One year we took and old tree branch and cut it into disks. We then painted Christmas characters on both side, put glitter around the edges, drilled a hole in the top and put a ribbon through so they could be hung on the tree. I miss those times.

Your family will remember those gift baskets for a very long times.

It sounds like a wonderful gift. You might consider taking orders and making some money on the side. I worked at a craft fair (bake sale part) and some people were paying upwards of $60 for only half that stuff (bread, soup mix, and two mugs with some hot chocolate mix).
Good Luck
Merry Christmas

I would like it because I think that a basket that is put together by the giver shows thought and consideration. Besides those are all useful items and I am more of a practical gift person. My sister used to give me what I called "corporate gifts" pre wrapped and unimaginative basket type gifts. I finally told her "let's not exchange". At least your idea shows some initiative and creativity.

Sounds good to me as long as the recipients don't get bad heart burn, and all have cell phones.

Another option that is fairly cheap if you have a printer buy cotton t-shirts and Iron on printer paper, put pictures of the family that are receiving the gifts on the Iron on paper then apply them to the t-shirt. This idea is particularly good if the family has young children that might get lost in public places. That way when they are wearing the shirt they can quickly show people who they are looking for.

I would be very grateful to get that from you.. remember its the thought that counts... I have always thought that homemade gifts are more heart felt anyways. I love to make gift baskets and I usually include something small and personal for each different person, so they know its especially for them. For instance, I have an uncle who loves earnhardt and his wife collects dolphins... so I make them a basket with (as you have) a blanket , sauces, chocolates, a small dolphin figurine or image, and an earnhardt car for him... they love them!

Thats the true spirit of Christmas right there. Why give someone a tie when they already have a billion? Having a undesireable financial problem and still thinking of others brings a smile to my face. Its great knowing that there are such thoughtful people in that world such as yourself.

I think thats a cool idea. Its creative. I'd love it. I love home-made gifts. My sister started doing that a couple of years ago. She wanted to give something from her own hands and heart. Im trying the same thing this year too.
