Do you look forward to mashed potatoes, turkey, stuffing? (the main parts) or pumpkin pie and other dessert-type goodies?

In the past, I have found that when I am too thankful, I start to lose those things that I am thankful for. It is almost like somebody out there doesn't want me to be too happy. Now I am paranoid about the whole idea of giving thanks. This time of year makes me nervous.

Anyone else feel that way, or is it just me?

Random question i know..

my brother's friend (shes around 29) is coming to celebrate christmas with my family this year and i have no idea what to get her..i've only met her once!

She isn't very glamorous..perhaps a bit tomboyish...

Any ideas of a impersonal but but thoughtful gift?

I bought 3 felt Christmas stockings last year from Walmart. I was pregnant with my daughter and didn't buy one for her this year. They had quite a few different stockings and they seemed to be more modern. One has a Christmas tree on it and it is made of triangles. Anyway, I'm hoping to somehow, somewhere find another of these for my little girl so they all match. If anyone knows what I'm talking about or has any suggestions, thanks!!

(I know, I'm being very picky, it's her first Christmas!!!)

What holiday traditions does your family have? Either that your parents passed on to you or that you and your family has started. One thing that my family does every year is the Friday after Thanksgiving we go out and pick a Christmas tree for the local tree farm and then we come home and we turn on Christmas music and decorate the tree and our house and we make Christmas cookies that day too. We don't have really any Christmas eve traditions which makes me sad. And we don't go caroling.
So what does your family do? And what are your favorite Xmas treat recipes?
Thanks and everyone enjoy the holidays!

I saw that in Australia, Santas are being asked to refrain from saying "ho, ho, ho" because it is offense to women and scares children. I saw another news clip today that said in England, Santas are being urged to slim down (not use padding), to help combat childhood obesity by being a proper role model. What do you think about this? Good intentions, or ruining a tradition?

We have 2 girls- 5 & 10. We have no money for presents, no money for a tree or anything. We are barley keeping up with our bills. Anyone have any ideas??? This is the first year this has happened. We are at a loss and I am tired of crying over it.
