We are in our teens. And if you can't think of something for a pair then can you think of an individual or one for 4.

...yeah.

We all appreciate having the day off work & having a summer day to relax, with fireworks, picnics, swimming, barbeques or whatever. I for one plan to be doing the same thing with my family today - woo hoo!! I just wondered how many Americans have even thought, even if it was only a passing thought, that the 4th of July is the day we celebrate the day of our nation's independence from England. All the freedoms we have today are a direct result of the foundations that our forefathers put in place when they declared independence & wrote the Constitution. I was at the grocery store yesterday & they were playing a song on the loud speaker. It was the Marine Corps song (forgot the name). As my father & nephew were Marines, I commented to a man nearby that I liked that song. He said "I just see tomorrow as a day off work". It made me wonder how many of us even think about why we celebrate the 4th. For me, it's a quick thought, but it would be truly sad if we never thought about it all.

Is July 4th just another day? Is it insulting to see our celebrations on TV? Is it something nobody talks about? Am I insane to be so curious about how British people feel today? I know everybody is cool today, but is there a little resentment? I love you UK!

Me: Nothing except watch fireworks from the front part of the Cathedral of Saint Paul and watch the finale part of the fireworks show from the Taste Of Minnesota (also at the front). I've never really been in a "Taste".

Most scheduled fireworks displays in my area are 'scheduled' for 9:00 or 9:30. So is "dusk" another way of saying 9:00?

Please, just describe how you feel about America, if you live here tell me what you think of it here, if you don't just state what you think about it. Just want to see if Americans are still patriots even after Bush...and what people of other countries think...have a good Independance Day, Americans!

I have one for us all to think about.
What we think has not barring...what we say speaks to the heart.
Things alway sound better in our heads. So let us all think about what we say about our country today with uncondital love of country.

We are superior in every way - amongst men and in nature.

We invented everything from cars to light bulbs to space travel to the Internet to democracy. Nothing was invented by non-Americans.

We single-handedly freed the hapless world from the Nazis and the communists.

We make all of the world's music, books, TV, and movies.

We are the only country with major professional sports - football, basketball, baseball.

America is the only country that has all of the world's climates from the tropics to the Arctic.

We have more thunderstorms and tornadoes than all other countries combined.

We hold all of the world's weather records - heaviest snow, rain, strongest wind, hottest and coldest temperatures.

We have the world's largest military and economy. Any other big militaries in the world are completely dependent on America for their technology and leadership. Any other big economies (Japan, Europe) in the world were single-handedly built by Americans from scratch.

you were doing last 4th of July, or how long or short it has been since Christmas? Christmas seems like a decade away when the 4th of July rolls around. It doesn't seem like the two holidays could be in the same year. It get dark in Oregon around 5 PM during Christmas time and now it is still light at 9 PM. I tend to measure time as to how it happens to fall between one major holiday and the next, like Arbor Day and Columbus Day.
