you were doing last 4th of July, or how long or short it has been since Christmas? Christmas seems like a decade away when the 4th of July rolls around. It doesn't seem like the two holidays could be in the same year. It get dark in Oregon around 5 PM during Christmas time and now it is still light at 9 PM. I tend to measure time as to how it happens to fall between one major holiday and the next, like Arbor Day and Columbus Day.

For me, working crazy hours, all the Holidays seem to blend together. I have worked many a holiday. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, because I like to see family. My family is all over the states. I wish you and yours a Happy 4th of July!

I usually use really important holidays, like National Secretary Appreciation Day and the Liberian Independence Day.
.
Actually, I hardly look back, and because of my job and lifestyle, rarely more than a week ahead. When I have met other Y!A people, I often give little or no notice. I currently have plans out as far as 7:07:07 PM, Saturday, 7-7-07. The last time I looked very far ahead was 01:23:45 6-7-89, looking forward to 12:34:56 7-8-90. That benchmark won't be reached again until I am about 125 years old.

When I was younger I used to measure time by who I was pregnant with, then my kids started having kids, now I measure by which Grandchild was born. I hate the holidays. Well, maybe not so much hate as I regret the ones past, they were always fraught with underpinnings of emotional distress. I KNEW something was going to go wrong and it did. Now I just kinda hide until they are all over. I spent two months in an oilfield camp (my decision) just because I did not want to face my family at Christmas. It doesn't help that my Dad died on Boxing day.

I sure did when the children were young... and I'm glad to see you consider Arbor Day a major holiday...

It's still light here in Illinois about the same as in Oregon..

and No, I don't think about time as between the holidays anymore....but, I may after this...

Yes, I do. Time goes by so fast when you measure it by holidays. Next up Labor Day, then Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas and back to New Years again and I'm another older. Wah wah! =*(
