We should cram all of todays modern day white holidays like presidents day columbus day, saint patricks day, oktoberfest (its for germans in case you didnt know) into one month and add some more we can celebrate our ancient history from the vikings, ancient rome and greece, and scandinavia and the rest of european history

Ok, i have been reading other people questions about black history month and I have come to the conclusion that there are still racist people out there. Why are people so against celebrating black history month. It is a part of American culture. blacks have made many contributions to history, so if the history books won't recognize our accomplishments then we have to somehow. I think White people are insecure they wish they could be a minority. They are just mad that BET is taking over MTV, and that minorities are getting into their schools and when they try to get into HBCU schools they can't. Somebody let me know why yall are so angry about BLACK HISTORY MONTH?

I think the term "Black History" excludes whites from celebrating this american historical event. Much emphasis is put on black people because they were the oppressed, and many whites were racist towards them. But didn't white people also participate with the Martin Luther King when he marched on Washington? Also didn't white people help slaves escape to the north through the underground railroad. Didn't whites also stick their necks on the line and were shunned by their own being called "N****R LOVERS" when they took the freedom rides to the segregated south and some were killed? Even though its called "Black History", isn't this a time for both black and white people to come together and commemorate the heroes (both black and white) who stood for truth, honor , and justice. Maybe its just the term "Black History" that sparks derogatory racial undertones, and thats why most white people ask, "why should we celebrate it?" Maybe change the name to "Afro-Euro history month". Thoughts??

My friends are acusing me of losing my sense of humour!
The thing is I have noticed that whenever people tell jokes, it always appears to be at someone else's expense. I know what it feels like when people laugh at you out of a sense of riddicule and try to prevent myself from doing that which I hate!

If a comedian tell a joke - then the audience laugh at the joke.
If the subject of the joke are people - then surely the audience are laughing at the people?
When I watch old movies of actors like Charlie Chaplin, am I laughing with or at him?
How can I tell the diference between when someone is laughing with or at someone? What or where is the dividing line?
Should we laugh about everything - the Holocaust, Slavery, famine, Global warming etc?

One thing I am really ignorant about is Filipino culture. I have only been friends with 2 Filipinos in my life. One is married to a Hispanic man and the other actually has a Hispanic last name. Are Filipinos considered Asian or Hispanic or a combination? Which culture do they identify with? Of the Filipinos that I know one looks more like a Hispanic person and the other looks Asian. Also of the Filipinos that I have ever met, they don't tend to associate often with Koreans or Chinese people. Maybe it is because I live in Texas which is a largely Hispanic state. I am not asking this question to be offensive, I am just curious and this is one topic that I have not really delved into. Answers from Filipinos or from people who are familiar with the culture would be appreciated.

Im not religious myself, i actually believe in both, im not athiest or really a christian, but i do believe theres both and right now it seems however it is , very many people are choosing hell, y? dont they want evrlasting whatever it is in the end? dont peopl notice that there is a War with religion and to believe or not in God or Satan. They are at a fight to take whomever trust more in either. Dont you see it?? There is a black n white evrywhere we look, but why dis eachother?? Why be hyprocritical of who is poor or richer, we are the same we breathe the same air and all must flush the toilet? I was wanting opinions on whether people think a Southern/Midwestern accent makes women seem dumb. I've typed a lot of essays for school and just to write, people read them, think they're great, but then when I talk to them for the first time all I hear is "What a cute accent! Do you live in the moutains? How is it in the South?" It's embarrassing. Should I try to change my accent so maybe I get taken more seriously? It's not horrible, but I do have a twang to my voice that people think is "cute". Thanks.

We're still very much in love and happy.

On here, I've had some very hatefull and judgemental things said to me. Mostly from fat lonely women and men.

Anyhow, it would be nice to see more people to see for themselves whats out there. In other words, don't knock it until you tried it!

How many of you have fantasised about this and are uneasy about trying it?
