One thing I am really ignorant about is Filipino culture. I have only been friends with 2 Filipinos in my life. One is married to a Hispanic man and the other actually has a Hispanic last name. Are Filipinos considered Asian or Hispanic or a combination? Which culture do they identify with? Of the Filipinos that I know one looks more like a Hispanic person and the other looks Asian. Also of the Filipinos that I have ever met, they don't tend to associate often with Koreans or Chinese people. Maybe it is because I live in Texas which is a largely Hispanic state. I am not asking this question to be offensive, I am just curious and this is one topic that I have not really delved into. Answers from Filipinos or from people who are familiar with the culture would be appreciated.

Venomous, why do all of you bigots repeat the same tired garbage? Can’t you come up with anything original, or can you not think for yourself? BTW your avatar does not even look Caucasian so if it is a fair representation of your appearance, perhaps you should look farther back into your own ancestry

Filipinos are generally considered as Asians. Most are of Malay descent, but a few also have Chinese and Spanish ancestry. The Phillipines has been a Spanish colony for a long time, many have adopted Spanish names, Catholicism, etc. Surprisingly, my friend told me while some Spanish words are used in their language few actually have full command of Spanish (about 20%).

As a Filipino American, I do evaluate the Philippines more effective Asian on the muse of geography. I have some mixed emotions about my kin's Spanish historic previous. In a fashion, I do income from the sturdy Spanish impacts interior the baroque structure of the church homes, besides because the way the all people is dressed and likewise the Catholic beliefs, yet I also puzzled what the Philippines might want to were if it had not in any respect been conquered by potential of Spain: perchance conquered by potential of tremendous Britain or being autonomous all the way, its custom strongly inspired by potential of something of Asia. In both a variety of circumstances, I have theory-about the potential of the Philippines already starting to be a more effective stepped ahead us of a, its economic gadget sturdy adequate to rival the economies of China, Thailand or Singapore. in spite of the undeniable fact that realistically, i think the destiny Pacquiao-De la Hoya boxing adventure will be a sturdy reminder of the Philippines' connection to Spain and Latin us of a.

East Indians are considered asian as well and they don't look anything like the sterotypical asian. many filipinos i know consider themselves to be pacific islanders (to be more specific), but they relate more with the asian culture even though many of them have spanish names. but we all know that is only because of past history.

Filipinos are considered Asians. They don't talk Spanish; their language is Tagalog. Their culture in food is quite similar. Except Filipinos staple food is rice and Mexicans are beans. The Filipinos take more pride in their own race and country then Mexicans. Its like they have an ego trip. Other than that, both races are good people: polite, respectful, generous, and eager to please the Americans. I love them because they love us.
