When I was 14 I read Branded, a book by Alissa Quart about brand names and how advertising affects teenagers. After that I sort of went DIY and cut all the labels out of my clothes and refused to buy anything with visible brand names on it (i.e., The Gap, Tommy Hilifiger, the shirts with the little polo ponie4s, ect.) I refused to go to the mall for about a year. I've kind of mellowed now, (no brand names, no 'I love certain stores', I do go to the mall occasionally tho) but has anyone else gone through something like this? Are brand names important to you?

The definition of "native" is that a specific creature is born in a place, or alternately that a particular species originates in a certain place. Therefore a "native american" would be anyone born in America, or alternately any species that originated in America.

The human species originated in Africa; so that part gets thrown out. That leaves being born in America; so there is no difference between the people that were indigenous to the Americas when the European settlers arrived, and those born in the Americas since that time.

There is no difference between this distinction, and saying that a member of the D.A.R. is somehow superior to a native born U.S. citizen whose parents immigrated to this country after WWII. Both show an unwarranted prejudice.

You grew up with none of your parents supporting you, and your mother told you your father is a doctor. You do some search, and you finally get to the place where your father practices, to his surgery - and you introduce yourself to him as his son and tell him your mother as well. To your surprise and shame, he denies ever knowing you but admits to knowing your mother. On your way out you overhear people saying 'he looks so much like his father' ~ what do you do? Do you really have to do anything?

If you grew up without your parents - not that they were having any problems, they just didn't care about you and your well being ~ do you have to confront them? They never supported you when you we young, you moved from place to place - growing with different people. At the age of sixteen one of them showed up (your mother), and asked that you visit her. After that, she never wanted you to go - she needed somebody to be a housekeeper but she did not tell you in those terms. She delayed your school progress, and when she sends you to school, she does not pay your school fees. When she come from work, she expect you to have finished cooking, even though you were at school yourself. To make matters worse, on Saturdays you must do all the washing including her's and your brother's, and you must make sure that your brother has eaten at the specified times.

What do you do? You are not a girl, you are not a woman an you are not used to this kind of situation - what do you do?

Its been said that all atheism does is think of God. That's what atheism is all about. Human atheists are claiming secret knowledge. That is omnipotent thought. That is defining yourself as a God. On their death bed, it said they change their thinking due to the fear of what death brings. What's your opinion on this?
