I LOVE THAT BOOK. I'm puerto rican and I totally related to that book. In a nutshell , it's a non fiction story about girl who was raised in Puerto Rico in her childhood years, then moves to brooklyn with her mother and many brother's and sisters. She discusses the ups and downs of her family life, dealing the with her identity as a Puerto Rican and an American. She's telling the story how she saw her mother as woman who continually had children, and her yearning to be back in her homeland. She was used to living in country and being able to enjoy nature, unlike her life in brooklyn, where they had to struggle for everything. I hope this helps you a little bit. If you're Puerto Rican, read the book!!!
