You grew up with none of your parents supporting you, and your mother told you your father is a doctor. You do some search, and you finally get to the place where your father practices, to his surgery - and you introduce yourself to him as his son and tell him your mother as well. To your surprise and shame, he denies ever knowing you but admits to knowing your mother. On your way out you overhear people saying 'he looks so much like his father' ~ what do you do? Do you really have to do anything?

It must have been awful to go there with hope and anticipation in your heart only to be denied and rejected. I can only imagine the sorrow you must have felt. While I have never been in this exact situation, I have experienced rejection from a parent. For me, a huge part of healing the pain was realizing that I am whole and complete regardless if I have that relative in my life or not. Sure, it would be nice to have them, but I can't "make" them want to have a relationship with me. Truth is, I would not want a relationship with someone who thinks it's okay to treat people that way. Some days are harder than other, but nothing is as wonderful as knowing that I am surrounded by people who love me regardless of their biological relationship to me. I wish you the best as you work through your feelings and reactions to this new revelation in your life. Above all, I wish you peace.

Did he ever know of you? Was he aware of your existance?

To confront a man at his workplace is crass at best. People are stupid and they make dumb mistakes. For him to admit these things in front of his coworkers is more than can be expected.

A follow up note with an apology and a contact number would be the best way to open up communications.

Tough call. First of all, please don't let Dr. filthy's answer get you down. That was an idiot answer to someone with a very serious problem. Does your mother know you are looking for your father? How old are you? I agree with the DNA test. Is your mother still alive? Can she talk to him?

the only thing i know to do is insist on a dna test on him and yourself to prove who you are then sue him for support, or just forget the whole thing as he will never love or want you anyway.
