I am invited on a college trip in 2009 to go to India and help school children learn, and to go trekking in the mountains, but it costs 3000 pounds.

The question is- can anyone think of any fresh ideas to raise money? Any ideas for what we can be sponsored for?

Thankyou.

November, a month of giving thanks and generous tithes. Donating to charity is what many will do as a result in Thanksgiving attitudes. One easy step in making a difference is clicking 'click-to-donate' sites. Donating a click is the simplest and most thrifty way to give money to charity; in fact, you don't have to give money at all. Basically, 'click-to-donate' sites are websites where users can click a button to generate a donation because they get money from advertisers whose banners are displayed each time a user clicks the button. Some sites generate a donation even just for visiting a site. There are outstanding outcomes brought out by the generous 'clickers'. Just looking at the daily results of thehungersite.com shows that they came up with 4,250,785 clicks (just in the month Oct'07), which brought forth 4,803,372 cups of food. All those cups of food for impoverished children, and it all started when a person took the first step in clicking.

what u think so far?

My Youth Group is going to do some holiday charities, but I think we need a little bit more ideas.
Anyone have any ideas for things we could do to help the communities?

I'm from a WASPy town and haven't had contact with many non-Christians. I'm not trying to be rude or insulting, I just want info.

Christian churches & organizations like the Salvation Army and the Christian Children's Fund do so much for people of all faiths. They run soup kitchens & homeless shelters, provide food & medical care for refugees, facilitate adoptions, have coat & blanket drives for needy persons, run community food pantries, organize after school & summer programs for kids, provide free counseling for troubled marriages and depressed individuals. When my friend had surgery & couldn't care for her family, members of her church came into her home & took care of the cooking, laundy, & housework for her. Often, the services are available to people regardless of their religious beliefs.

What do non-Christians for for the less fortunate? Do they provide the same for those who don't share their beliefs, or do you have to belong to their faith/group to qualify for benefits?

Our forests are being destroyed due to lack of education on the side of the people dwelling in the forest/area and due to unmindful loggers and weak police. I believe that we, as a people, can help with an intentional information drive coupled with helping the people discover some alternative source of income that is environment friendly. Are there help out there?

I'm thinking of going overseas to do some volunteer work, using my professional skills.

However, I've only been in my industry for 3 years, first job that pays more then I'd usually expect. If I want to volunteer, I'd have to quit.

Has anyone ever done it? Experiences? What should I consider other than financial reason?

I have no commitments, but just scared I'll come back to nothing.
