If you were an omnipotent, all-powerful god that could do anything, and you were peeved with humanity, why spend 40+ days in a grandiose, circuitous flood to wipe them out rather than just snapping your divine fingers to make a restart? Isn't that like Doctor Evil taking the scenic route to kill Mustapha in Austin Powers rather than just shooting him?

Moreover, if moral decline was all it took to trigger a flood, why haven't we had an earth-covering flood every single decade of human history?

Btw: with all the deity pyschology questions, if you're offended, why bother to reply? This question is for thinking people, not for you. Answer a pro-superstition question instead.

Where I live they are known for being rude and keep to themselves. But Today I walked by there Haitian only 7th day adventist church and they were double parking, screaming at other motorists, taking up whole sidewalks not making room for others, even bumping into an old lady.

If they say that "god" blesses those who believe in him, and religion is the basis of morality, then how come countries with very secular policies and mostly secular people like the Scandinavian countries, Japan, UK, etc have the lowest crime rates in the world and CONSTANTLY tops the list of most livable countries?!

how come countries with very religious people continue to be poor (like India and Indonesia) and tops the list of least livable countries (like Nigeria)

I have just been diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome (which means i'm slightly autistic). I always felt comfortable as an exgay now they tell me I just feel comfortable being alone. Aspies-those with Asperger's-are just as militant as gays, they say we were born this way and there is nothing wrong with us. I blamed my differentness on being gay and thought all gays were like me. Now I find that's not true. I just view the world different than you whether you are str8 or gay. Amazing. Now I can choose to lead a celibate single life knowing that that's what I prefer because this is who I am...but where does that put my Catholic faith..input please

Anyone else notice that? I don't sleep until late in the morning so I see them every day on tv and its always about money, offerings, financial success through christ. One said not to come to his church unless you donate, benny hinn who is the worst said you can bribe god by donating money to him.

Theres another guy that just shows the same episodes every few months which are just from the 90s doing the same thing, money money money. Then theres some guy who calls himself a bishop and says he does phophesies, but same thing its all about money.

Why do people give money to these obvious scam artists?

PARIS A public high school philosophy teacher and writer who attacked the Prophet Muhammad and Islam in a newspaper commentary has gone into hiding under police protection after receiving a series of death threats, including one diffused on a radical Islamist online forum.

Robert Redeker, 52, wrote in the newspaper Le Figaro 10 days ago that Muhammad was "a merciless warlord, a looter, a mass-murderer of Jews and a polygamist." He also called the Koran "a book of incredible violence."

Redeker also compared Islam unfavorably with Christianity and Judaism and criticized the hostile reaction to a recent speech by Pope Benedict XVI that seemed to link Islam and violence.

"Jesus is a master of love; Muhammad is a master of hatred," Redeker wrote, adding: "Whereas Judaism and Christianity are religions whose rites forsake violence and remove its legitimacy, Islam is a religion that, in its very sacred text, as much as in some of its everyday rites, exalts violence and hatred. Hatred and violence dwell in the very book that educates any Muslim, the Koran."

Immediately afterward, Redeker, who teaches in a high school near Toulouse and is the author of several books on philosophy, began to receive death threats by telephone, e-mail and in the Internet forum. The forum published photos of him, what it said was his home address, directions to his home and his cellphone number.
