If you were an omnipotent, all-powerful god that could do anything, and you were peeved with humanity, why spend 40+ days in a grandiose, circuitous flood to wipe them out rather than just snapping your divine fingers to make a restart? Isn't that like Doctor Evil taking the scenic route to kill Mustapha in Austin Powers rather than just shooting him?
Moreover, if moral decline was all it took to trigger a flood, why haven't we had an earth-covering flood every single decade of human history?
Btw: with all the deity pyschology questions, if you're offended, why bother to reply? This question is for thinking people, not for you. Answer a pro-superstition question instead.

Incidentally,if a god is so easily "enraged", does not that god need anger management therapy?

Finally, an intelligent question. There can be a few answers to this.
1. There is no god and the story of noah is stolen from the earlier Sumerian story of Gilgamesh and it was not a global flood but maybe a remembered story of a localised flood.
2. God exists but is not all powerful, this could explain his impotence at dealing with anything since biblical times.
3. God does exist and is just a cruel pshyco that gets off on seeing lesser beings suffer. This also explains why he hasn't done anything since biblical times.(I guess he is enjoying the show too much, lol)
As far as another flood because of moral decline, after the first flood god made a pact to mankind stating that never again would he flood the world in a global cataclysm. This was symbolically sealed by the appearance of the first rainbow.

God chose to make it rain for 40 days and 40 nights. Why did He do it that way and not rain fire? I don't know. Also, God didn't destroy all life (except for those on the ark) because the earth was corrupt, He destroyed it to rid the earth of the corrupt flesh created by the union of the sons of God(angels) and the daughters of men. (check out Genesis 6 . . specifically verse 4)
Anyway, why not again? God promised that He wouldn't destroy all flesh again. As a sign He gave us the rainbow.

If it were me I'd go for the flood. That really cleans things up. Besides I'd rather use natural means than hocus pocus. And as a deity what's time to me? Can you imagine how really bad the moral decline was at that time compared to what it is now? I mean it's bad now; but as you stated we haven't been wiped out since the flood so I can only surmise that it was worse before the flood.

Why six days instead of one? Why blood sacrifice instead of fruit? Why a burning bush? Why only speak to your prophets with no other wtinsesses to verify the revelation? Why subjugate women to men when men won't even stop to ask directions when they're lost? Clearly the gods are so dumb you'd almost think they were made up, by jealous, angry, primitive, unscientific, nomadic tribal medicine men who wanted to eat steaks without having to work for them. DOH!!!!

Snapping his fingers wouldn't be such a good story. The bible was written to teach, through false stories, about sinning and to fear god. Therefor, the writers used the flood to scare the blind followers into submission.

My question exactly. I completely agree, but believe God was going for theatrics, and hasn't done it since because there are some good people out there, and there can only be so many arks.

Deniability. I just made it rain day and night for 40 days. If they'ed listened to me like Noah did, they'd have survived!
