"Atheism is the rejection of some specific sort of God-talk, whether by disbelief or dismissal. As long as such rejection is encouraged to be clearly articulated, theological dross is subjected to cleansing fires of criticism, and the human project of relating cognitively and practically to the most high and the most real is advanced." Quote by Frederich Ferre', Professor at Univ. of Georgia
Christians-can you handle it?

One day the zoo-keeper noticed that the orang-utan was reading two books - the Bible and Darwin's The Origin of Species. In surprise he asked the ape, "Why are you reading both those books"?
"Well," said the orang-utang, "I just wanted to know if I was my brother's keeper or my keeper's brother."

I live in a town with LOTS of colleges, and when I was in college I had a nice apartment. Most of them are so gross and unkept that it shocks me. What is going on??

For several weeks now her posts have done nothing but insult christianity. Yet she puts herself off like a pagan. She gives us respectable pagans a bad light. I respect others and their choice of religion, I don't push mine and I will gladly ask that you don't push yours onto me. The Creator loves EVERYONE regardless of religion, race, or sexual orientation. Do you think she needs some enlightenment?

I am a practicing and initiated witch for 6 years now, and I have never seen such hate in a "pagan".

I'm from America, so if any English folks could answer this question it would help, as chav seems to be an English cultural thing. If you have any explanations, thoughts, or anecdotes/stories, I'd be glad to hear them - the only thing I don't want is a message: 'idk. 2 points'. (You know who you are.) So, what are they?

I know biblically that the only time you get a divorce is when there is abuse, or adultery. At this point there has never been any adultery, but my wife is about to get abused. I can't take her double-standard bull anymore. If I talk about buying something, she's nervous about our finances, but (I kid you not) the next day we could spend double the about of money I would've spent on something she wants.
I sincerely try to make her happy, and do romantic things, but if I mess up just once, it's all over. The yelling, and mean comments abound.
If I am generally a happy person, how long should I be with someone that is not happy with themseleves? We have no kids ( Thank God!). And I do love her, but I think I am beating my head on a rock with this. All answers very welcome.

I asked this question and thinking that man evolved from monkeys, but some said apes. Then the last question only 6 answers, really 4 that were about the question. They mostly agreed that man did not come from any type of monkey, but was a sort of race unto himself. But NOBODY really said where they believed man came from. I don't thing the average evolutionists can answer. I think you believe some theory and don't even know what it is. Tell me evolutionists where did your ancestors come from????
I have a catholic bible that says in the front that man evolved from the monkey family.
I mentioned reincarnation in the other because even though they believe in reincarnation, it had to start somewhere.
Do you know Where did you come from???

who do we think we are fooling? I don't think a belief is a choice. The pill question poses the hypothetical "What if belief was a choice?" I don't think I answer the same way Sean wants me to. I would choose to believe a tailor-made lie which makes me happy, if I could. I have my best guess at what is real, however, and it is not tailor-made. Is it somehow less respectable to dislike reality?
