with age? My friend was visiting with her son who was eleven. He had to be instructed to properly behave continually! My friend is patient but still persistant to inforce rules and boundries...(more tolerent then I could ever be) yet It seem to always turn into a yelling session between the two of them. It embarrises me when my friend corrects her son out in public if by drawing negitive attention being loud or disruptive. Saddly, this makes me uncomfortable, nervous having my friend around although we have been friend for many years. We live at a distance from one another so I overlook this delima. My friend thinks I need to( get over it) about what people think...that it is ok to be loud, it is part of her family's temperment:(
Is there hope for people who have to face this sisuation every day? Will their child learn to be socially adaptible?

How does depression affect a relationship? Do you find it difficult to communicate with the people in your life that you love the most, and find yourself cutting them out of your life? More specifically, have you had to end a relationship because of it, but couldn't bring yourself to communicate any further with that person even if they were offering support and help?? I've found myself in this situation, and don't know what to do to help him. I'm trying to be a friend to him, but he's not very responsive to me and I don't know if I should leave him be or keep offering support and letting him know I am there so he knows that I haven't abandoned him. I'm just having a hard time trying to figure out his unresponsiveness. He doesn't seem to want anything to do with me. I don't want to give up on him, because my heart and my gut are telling me that he will come around, but it's just starting to feel hopeless because it's been so long now

mostly pointed towards those who ask political and philosophical based questions.

could it be that your just trying to up yourself by finding people of like mind and equal arrogance who agree with your own limited viewes? or could it be just that i'm reading too much into the situation and i'm a cynical hypocrite?

whether from working in the sex industry, or simply engaging in casual, anonymous sex? When women do these things, people warn her that it's "degrading" because the other people don't really care about her as a person, but just see her as a "sex object" or are "using her." So how come we don't warn men about how they're "degrading" themselves, and mankind as a whole? Does this suggest that we give men a lot more freedom when it comes to their sexuality than we afford women? Do we consider men more capable of handling their sexuality and perhaps being what some people would consider more reckless with it?

There's this ice cream place in my town called scoopers, BTW.

OKay so I worked at the ice cream store called Scoopers, but it didn't look like it does now. And me and a few friends (I didn't see their faces) were working there. We had Scoopers Parons and striped hats. But we didn't work BEHIND the counter, we worked in front of it scoopin gice cream. I felt strangely young, (I am 13) and working with older people. A councilor from a camp I went to last year was working there. A lady came in and asked me for a flavour of Ice cream. I looked over and the guy was mixing it so I said "Sorry it's not ready yet," and I wasn't sure what to do. She asked me for butterscotch ice cream (which looked like peanut butter). She said 'Just scoop it out from this side," and i said "no, I'll go around," So i went behind the counter and scooped the ice cream out. She wanted chocolate sauce so I took it into a room at the back and my camp councilor helped me mix the butterscotch and chocolate sauce.

The past week or two, especially the past several nights, I remember in parts of dreams I have, stepping on large, sharp, very hard weeds (like we have in our yard..) barefoot.. and actually feeling it hurt my foot.

Any idea what this could indicate?

Ok so I know I'm throwing a pity party, whatever.

It seems constant:

"I believe in equality, but I'm not a feminist"
"Feminists hate men"
"Feminazi"
"I don't wear flannels and I like to shave so I'm not a feminist"
"All feminists are lesbians"
"I'm conservative, so I can't be a feminist"
"All feminists are women"

Ugh. it's exhausting. Anybody feel like this too? What can we do?

I think I might have social anxiety disorder, but I don't want to go talk to a therapist and find out it's just shyness. that would be embarrassing.

Besides racial ones, what prejudice(s) do you have? Have you ever tried to overcome them? If so, how? Were you successful?
If you've not tried to overcome them, would you consider it? Why or why not?
Just curious - and thanks in advance for your answers!
