I've seen on tv, and in real life..they fire continously..like more than a bullet per second for few seconds untilk the clip is out...they obviously dont have some sort of battery...then how does the mechanism work?

What are some uses of a magnet in every day life that you normally don't know that you are using one. Ex. sA lot of people don't know that a TV uses magnets but they use it every day.

After watching the pilot of Jericho my husband and I have had a running disagreement about how far away a mushroom cloud from a nuclear explosion can be seen. I'm guessing it depends on the size on the bomb, so we'll assume an extremely large one. We live approx. 90 miles from Cleveland Ohio... could we see it if one hit there?

I wanted to test time dialation (yes, I know it has been proven already) I already have the equation. I thought I could have someone keep track of their time while they take a fast car ride, while I stay at home. We would both synchronize our watches.
Could I measure ANY results in this manner? Basically, I wanted to test time dialation at low velocities (like 70 MPH). Is this possible, or do I need to get someone to ride in an airplane to notice any "change" in time?

It might help to do this with quantum mechanics so the monkeys can work faster. I think I read that it was possible to do this in a cup of coffee (it might help if you read: http://216.239.59.104/search?q=cache:7p9NlA8RKhAJ:www.cmmp.ucl.ac.uk/~ajf/Event_Horizon_24Nov03.ppt+coffee+cup+quantum+mechanics&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=8&gl=uk&client=firefox-a)

I've searched the web and have so far found nothing in the way of what you might call a step by step "simple explanation" (if there indeed is one). I was wondering if anyone could explain this equation to me in layman's terms without writing a thesis. If possible could you add any practical applications to which this equation applies to? Thanks.

I have to draw a schematic diagram and include 3 batteries, 3 light bulbs, 1 resister and 1 switch. I Have to put the resistor between the 2nd and 3rd bulbs. What I was wondering is which way does the current flow fromthe batery. does it flow out of the positive which means the switch would be before the negative. or vise versa? Confusing !

A length of aluminum wire is connected to a precision 10.11 V power supply, and a current of 0.4218 A is precisely measured at 20.0°C. The wire is placed in a new environment of unknown temperature where the measured current is 0.4627 A. What is the unknown temperature?

Please show how you did it. Thanks!

1 1 kg of iron and 1 kg of brass are suspended from different balance scales, each metal fully submerged in water. How do the scale readings compare? Express the answer as a function of the densities of the two materials.
2. a completely submerged chunk of metal sinks in water with an acceleration equal to 1/5 of g (where g = 9.8 m/s^2).Find the specific gravity of this metal.Ignore all the drag effects in th fluid.
3.A beach ball has a volume of 0.03 m^3.How much force would you have to exert to hold this beach completely under water?
4 A sinker was used to submerge a piece of cork beneath the water to determine the cork's specific gravity.Assuming the specific gravity is not known, why is it unnecessary to determine the specific gravity of the sinker?

- How do you convert pounds to Newtons?
I was thinking I should go to kg first, but how can you go between the two if N is kg times m/s^2? N is a mass measurement, I know, but my teacher just gave us a list of weights in pounds and asked us for N (no seconds, no nothing).
- If you stand on a scale with one foot, won't the scale reading go down at first?
There are other choices like it going up or staying the same, but I thought that it would just go down. (I don't have a scale, or I would've checked...lol.)
