A gun fires a bullet. The bullet's mass is 5g and it travels at 20m/s. Thee recoil velocity of the gun is 2m/s. What is the mass of the gun?

I'm sure you need to set up an equation where momentum before =momentum after.
Please solve showing all your work,
Thanks

Yeah, how come? Of to any explosion exists there has to be air and given that the big bang was an explosion, then air and space and time shall exist before it, am I not right?

Try to teach me how to understand correctly why time and space were created at the "time" of the big bang...

tnx in antecipation, kisses to the chicks and hugs to the boys,

particle is attached between two identical massless springs on a horizontal frictionless table. Both springs swivel freely at the fixed pins with no friction. Wach spring has a natural length of L, a force constant k, and is unstressed when the particle is at the origin.

Looks like: (The 1s are supposed to be the two springs)
.

@

.

If the particle is constrained to move only along the x-axis, what is potential energy? (we don't care about the constraint force that keeps y=0 at all times)

The x-direction is beside the @ (---x---)

Also, find the net force actoin on the particle for the case above.

Help with any part of this would be wonderful, I am so lost.

A 0.49 kg object connected to a light spring with a spring constant of 22.3 N/m osciallates on a frictionless horizontal surface. The spring is compressed 7.1 cm and released from rest.

1) What is the maximum speed of the mass in m/s?

2) What is the speed (in m/s) of the object when the spring is compressed 1.4 cm?

3) What is the speed (in m/s) when the spring is stretched 1.4 cm?

4) For what value of x does the speed equal 1/2 of the maximum speed (in units of cm)?

He's friends with one of my friends and I went to his house on saturday. He showed us his nuclear fusion reactor and turned it on and everything. It looked like a small, glowing, gaseous ball in the middle of the chamber. Do you think he's actually creating nuclear fusion? If he is, he's the 18th person who has been able to do it outside of a government lab, and the only one to have done it out side of a laboratory all together. There are articles about him in newspapers all over the world. You can read one at http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061119/NEWS03/611190639&template=printart. Or just create a search for : Thiago, nuclear fusion.
