Your sense of what feels heavy and light is affected by the neutral buoyancy of being in water. It approximates the weightlessness that an astronaut experiences.

Ironically, the added resistance of moving within water makes it a very good form of exercise. When your muscles tone up from exercising in water a couple of days later, it will have the same affect as having been in a higher gravity environment.

I talk about this stuff on my website at dinotheorist.com

Usually, children bond with their parents. In your case, you spent so much of your infancy and childhood with your nanny, and so very little time with your biological parents that there was never any bonding. It is terribly sad that it hurt you so much when she left; i bet she found it painful to leave you. As awful as what you are feeling is, it is pretty well known. There were some very sad experiments with chimps ( years ago) that showed that even if all their physical needs were met, if they did not have any parental bond, they died. It may have been called "failure to thrive." YOU ARE NOT AT FAULT FOR YOUR BIOLOGICAL MOTHER AND FATHER NOT LOVING YOU. For reasons neither of us understand, this happened before you were born. There is nothing you did to cause this. NOTHING. Unfortunately, you are suffering terribly for the decisions they made. Why not try to find your NON-biological mother now? Your parents probably have an old addresses - they may have paid her Social Security, which would mean they would even have her Social Security Number. but even if they don't have that info, you have the INTERNET! not just Facebook, YA, even private detectives ! At least don't give up until you have looked for her, and tried to talk to her. I really think she hated to leave you. After all, the idea that she just walked away probably is what you were told by your parents. =================== Now, you are terrified when it looks like someone close to you might be vaguely thinking of leaving you , of finding another best friend. painful as it is, it isn't complicated.

The density of water is very similar to the density of your body (Which is mosly water). This greatly reduces gravity's affect on you and allows you to experience a sense of weightlessness while in the water, which your body becomes acclimated. When you get out of the water, you body, which has been used to less gravity, must reacclimate itself to the earth's normal gravity. This will make you feel "heavy." Astronauts experience a similar feeling, though much more extreme because they literally have not been using their muscles to support their body wieght for a long time, and require extensive physical therapy before retunring to normal..

the same kind of thing happens when you jump on a trampoline for a long time, then get off and try to jump on the ground. I think it has to do with your muscles not having to work so hard to acheave the same result. Kinda like the other guy said... I'm sure there's a better explination for it than what I gave though.

probably for the same reason that when you stop walking on a treadmill you still feel like you are moving...it is an illusion.....your legs are in a "weightless" atmosphere so when you get out of the water you have to adjust also your equalibrium could be affected by this too so standing up (first few seconds) may be an issue

Your muscles get used to the buoyancy of your body in the water. It takes less effort to move around or even stand on the bottom. When you step out your body feels heavier.

That's why it's better to ease into things. Our bodies need time to adjust to exercise. If you r use to doing 20 laps and one day u decide to do 40 you will feel it the next day cause your body isn't use to it.Try n ease into it and work your way up to doing more swimming so u don't go through the pain.

well I don't know the technical terms but basically you are totally flexing and working your muscles but in a pressure-free way, meaning they are loose and feel odd when you start using them for harder things, like walking out of water. it's all about pressure,
