Are all modern solid state electronics susceptible to EMP?

Do they have to be on, having electricity circulating in the ciruit at the time of EMP burst in order to be affected?

If a computer is not turned and is disconnected from the power outlet, with only its cmos battery power, will it be affected by EMP?

Will a regular portable radio without the battery in be affected? Or do I need to store it in a Faraday cage?

OK, I have heard from a person who never tried it but was told and certainly believed that if you were camping and wanted an ice cold drink that you could bury it about 6 inches underground, then cover it up with dirt, pour gasoline over a large area above it (he described 3-4ft. diameter) then light the gasoline. Supposedly, the resulting large but brief fire would pull all the heat from the ground and drinks below. This seems highly implausible but I thought I'd check with you guys first before making fun of him for being so gullible. Has anyone ever heard of (or tried) this?

This one's for my brother and me. A Thermos Bottle works because heat won't travel across a vacuum, so how does a spacecraft dissapate the heat generated by equipment and people? It can't be as simple as a radiator (such as in a car) because they need airflow to work.

Two inertial objects move heading each other. When they cross each other , a light pulse is shot up. And when these objects look for the light pulse after they have gone a long way along, they find it just above their head. How do you explain this ?

1. During radioactive beta decay, if electrons are emitted, how can atomic no. increase and since radioactive decay is the dissociation of nucleus, how can electrons be emmitted which are not found in nucleus?
2.In gamma decay - photon are emmitted and if so what kind of electromagnetic waves are associated with it?
3. In rdioactivity, decays occur due to less stability of the atoms elements having higher atomic mass and again in beta decay if the atomic mass increases how can stability increase any way?
Be 100% sure for a satisfying answer. All the best and I honestly don't know the answers and since radioactivity is a cool topic i would like to learn more about it and hence these questions

The diagram that comes with the problem is a right triangle with the distance from the camera to the train as the hypotenuse. The question is:

How fast is the camera rotating (in radians/min) at the moment when the train is 1 km from the camera?

By definition, i'd imagine a landline call goes through cables "on land"...so how do we make these calls across seas and oceans etc? Are there thousands of "under-sea cables"? If there's a transatlantic cable to USA from UK...from where and to where does it start and stop? Does this mean that every country has 158 (159 minus itself) cables stemming from it somewhere; one for each country? Or just one or two HUGE ones?????

Is there completely nothing? Or full of theoretical subelementary particles? And it is said that the universe is accelerating. Could it means that our universe had been existed far before our big bang estimation time? And there's no such things as baby universes? The Dark Energy is said to be responsible to the acceleration of galaxies. What is Dark Energy, and why does its name sound interesting to me?
