Dr HC Verma s book is one of the best book to master concepts of Physics. Since IIT JEE test students for conceptual clarity, this book is the natural choice. The problems given towards the end of exercise sections are at par with JEE, and student should give sufficient time to solve them. However, this book is not an IIT JEE guide and does not contain a huge number of solved problems to practice. To address this gap, Jitender Singh and Shraddhesh Chaturvedi (both IITians) came with a book titled "IIT JEE Physics (1978-2015: 38 Years) Topic-wise Complete Solutions" that contains more than 1300 solved problems from IIT JEE. These problems are arranged according to chapters in Dr HC Verma s book. So this book acts as a companion for Dr Verma s book and is indispensible resource for JEE aspirants. The foreword to this book is written by Prof HC Verma himself.

first of all read halliday resnick and h.c verma thoroughly
then try the problems in h.c verma...do not leave out the objective questions...also try the the 1st section of questions(which do not have answers)...b'cause they really sharpen ur concepts...
only after u have done all this do u move on to irodov
i think this would be more than enough for ur jee preparation.......best of luck

Practice HC Verma's Concepts of Physics for AIEEE (JEE Main) if you are going to just secure rank < 90000(AIR). For more good rank study both.

the book is really very good and certainly more than enough provided you understand all the concepts involved in the problems that he has presented. you should understand the message of every probem and not simply solve them mechanically to get the answers.
i appreciate the order in which he has presented the problems.
other books like mukherjee will help you know what you have understood and also help you to build your speed.
