I know that an emf is induced in a conductor when rotated in a magnetic field but why is it induced? I realsie that a current produced will travel in the opposite direction to the force that produced it buy yet again WHY and HOW is the emf induced? Please explain adequately.

This happens at all of my single lever sink valves. Hot water measures 122.5 degrees with water running and handle in full hot position. When the lever is moved toward cold in one motion, the temperature momentarily rises to 122.7 degrees. Then, of course, the water gets cold. I can definitely feel the change with my hands, which led me to check this with a digital thermometer. Any theories?

Haven't you ever noticed this, how a decelerating high speed rotating part can appear to slow, pause and appear stationary and then appear to reverse direction, and then continue its deceleration?
Is it something to do with the frequency of light and the rpm of the object?
Why when you blink and stare at the rotating object can your eye take a stationary snapshot of the object?

All answers or theorys are appreciated, if only so that i stop standing at the roadside blinking at the traffic and scratching my head. Carl.

It can't simply be the sudden noise from a supersonic vehicle.
Is it to do with the doppler effect, sound multiplying where the vehicle overtakes it's own sound?

can anybody explain dimensional analysis?

could u also answer this question?

The position of a particle moving under uniform acceleration is some function of time and the acceleration. Suppose we write this position s = k * a^m * t^n, where k is a dimensionless constant. Show by dimensional analysis that this expression is satified if m = 1, and n = 2. Can this analysis give the value of k?

thanks

Is there a limit to the number of directions? You may need to try to mentally visualise this, its tricky.

So… we’re trying to cope with the heat just like the rest of the country.

I set up two desktop fans. One is about 5” in diameter. The other is about 10” in diameter.

My son set up the 5” fan behind the 10” fan as a sort of turbocharger thinking that the resulting airflow out of the second fan would be faster if the air flow in was faster.

My wife and I told him we didn’t think it would work the way he thought it would.

And, of course, the answer came back “Why not?”

Um, er, well….

My wife said, “It can’t work or, at least, the net effect can’t be significant. Otherwise, we’d use the principle everywhere.”

My response: “Just because it isn’t practical (i.e. an efficient use of energy) doesn’t mean it might not work in principle

So, I throw the question to you scientists and armchair scientists…. Would this increase the speed of the air flow or not? If so, how does it do so? If not, why doesn’t it? What are the relevant principles to consider here?

I think their similarities are the controlling of minds, and that we are all interdependent as one whole part of the universe/universes. I would be glad if you could recommend some good sources about Quantum Physics, and even better, with the discussions of the view above.
Thanks.
