No, the best students are not always the most intelligent, they are usually the most diligent. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to do well in college. It certainly helps to have a high IQ, but having one certainly does not guarantee success.

Surprisingly around half of the few super high IQ score aquaintances I knew in high school either dropped out or failed at university. Although an IQ *can* make parts of college easier it can also hurt you if you've never had to work hard to learn something. Also many high IQ students have never done the grunt work to get the grade and can't handle the required attendance or continual graded work for many courses. I also knew some students who had struggled hard in high school and found that the skill that got them a good university degree was hard work, perseverence and the practice of working closely with instructors and forming effective study groups. That is what makes a good student: study skills! So if you're worried about you own success I would say take the study skills seminars offered, use the resources offered at your college, NEVER be afraid to talk with the instructors - talking to them about course subject matter outside of class can often up your grade a plus or minus at least!!! If you go to their office you show you are really trying and effort still counts somewhat!
Anyway, in my 10 years at university that is what I observed.
Hope that answers your question.

There is more than likely a study that indicates a corellation... something that shows a percantage of people doing well in college are of a moderate to high IQ... but the truth is, one really has nothing to do with the other. I can be the best building builder in the world, but if I only want to build grass huts, that's all I do...

Inteligence has nothing to do with modivation and the ability to take classes and pass them. Often times people with very high IQs have a hard time going to school. Some people with very advanced degree's do not have much over average IQs but they put the work and effort into it and were able to succeed.

Not necessarily.
IQ scores are over-rated at best. A person's IQ doesn't necessarily contribute to their work ethic, and without a good work ethic a person can't possibly be successful in school.
Common sense AND IQ play equal roles in regard to your question.

No matter how strong the corellatioons, everyone must have a balance of intelligence and insight and plenty helpings of trial s.
In hindsight, failures do matter as much as your successes do too, it challenges anyone like me and you to accept limitations. Don,t be naive to discount them. Tthen moving past + edging further in our daily task(s). So. i'll say what a good man said too,- "A good man will learn more from poor wisdom than a wise man would, from friends"

Not much because IQ scores vary from test to test and more importantly our educational system stresses diligence more than intelligence

I have a 172 IQ (Cattell). I never went to college, never had much success in high school. I was never motivated & no teacher ever reached me.
BUT, in my working life, I found plenty of success. I had more success than most of the school kids, who had made my life a misery.

Those with high IQ scores think the score is an accurate indicator. Those with low scores think it's bunk. Go figure!
