Phone poles apear to either be treated with a chemical or even fired at their base but at the top they apear to be lighter in color and spliting from the weather. Do they treat the bottom do prevent it from rotting in the wet earth and neglet the top to make it lighter for stability? If so how are they treated? If not is it just that through time the poles natural juices seep to the bottom of the pole leaving the bottom looking darker and the top looking paler.

Example: Person 1 says A = "I'm concerned about forest fires, I believe more attention should be paid them.". Person 2 says that since Person 2 did not also mention B,C,D as in "I'm concerned about fires caused by kids playing with matches." (add in other examples) that they then don't care about B,C,D and that their original statement about A is stupid and false.

This is used as a distraction and in an attempt to make the discussion go off track. My guess is that this employs a logical fallacy or two. Or that there is some term for what is being done and a fuller explanation. Anyone able to help me out with this? I haven't found the answer yet in looking through logical fallacies. One idea is that perhaps the answer is in classic debate rules, as in -what not to do-.

Thanks!

Yesterday my friend left me a message on my phone and when I listened to it, there was this really crazy noise. like her voice became a monotonous drone and had a weird bleep in the background throughout the entire message. I let her listen to the message and she said she had talked in her normal bubbly voice with inflections and stuff. has this happened to anyone else? could there be a scientific reason to the creepy message transformation?

I did an experiment where i took a battery from zero degrees celciUs to 60 degrees celcius. I measured the voltage at various points along the way. not this was a 1.5 volt energizer battery. Instead of seeing a decrease in the voltage as the temperature increased (as expected) i saw an increase in voltage.

I have no idea how this could have happened. COuld it be the electroytes - if so how would that work?
