Another sample problem for an exam I'm going to take:

Use the Cauchy-Riemann equations to show that an analytic function satisfying |f(z)| = 1 for all z must be a constant. You may assume that the domain is connected.

I know this must be true by Liouville's Theorem, but I can't imagine how to show it as a consequence of the C-R equations.

Thanks!

can some guide me into this problem, I totally don't understand.
i did the calculations and keep getting D.$4.50. would that be the correct answer?

Kara and Sonny went to see a movie at the local theater.

Kara paid $13.00 for 1 large box of popcorn and 2 large soft drinks.

Sonny paid $8.50 for 1 large box of popcorn and 1 large soft drink.

In the system of equations below, p represents the cost of 1 large box of popcorn and s represents the cost of 1 large soft drink.

p + 2s = 13.00
p + s = 8.50

What is the value of p, the cost of 1 large box of popcorn?

A. $4.00
B. $4.25
C. $4.30
D. $4.50

Use Descartes' Rule of Signs to analyze the zeros of the following. List all possibilities.

P(x) = x^5 - 4x^4 + 3x^3 + 2x - 6

P(x) = -5x^4 + x^3 + 2x^2 - 1

P(x) = 2x^5 + 7x^3 + 6x^2 - 2

Could someone explain how I would do this? Maybe show an example? Thank You! :)
