Assuming 1/6 d +13 = 20
1/6 d = 7
d = 7x6
d=42
1 divided by 6d +13 = 20 is impossible
1 divided by 6d then +13 = 20 is also impossible

In algebra when trying to find x (or in this case d) when you start to eliminate things from the problem, what you do to one side you must also do to the other
1/6d + 13 = 20
-13 -13 subtract 13 from both side
_____________
1/6d = 7
1/6 X 6/1(AKA 6) = 1
Leaving 1d (or just d) by itself on the left
because you multiplied the left side of the equation by six you now have to muliply the right side by 6 as well.
7 X 6 = 42
d=42

Basically you have to isolate the variable and to do that you move the constants to the other side.
1/6d + 13 = 20
1/6d = 20 - 13
1/6d = 7
d = 7 * 6
d = 42

1/6d + 13 = 20 : subtract 13 from both sides
1/6d = 7 : multiply both sides by 6
d = 42

Well, the answer is 42.
1) subtract 13 on each side so 20-13
2)1/6d=7
3)divide each side with 1/6 so d is by itself
4) answer is d=42
