Im a C1 A level student, but I just cant get my hang around it!!!

Please do both of these qus: (just copy and paste the ² symbol from here for your answer).

1) 2x² + 3x -5

2) -x² +6x +9

Especially for the first one, please show EVERY single step.

Hi.. I'm really not understanding how to complete the square (especially when there are negatives). This is an A Level C1 past exam qu, and I really have no idea how to do it. I only presume that I need to use completing the square, but another method would be fine.

Please show your full method:

f(x) = 9 +6x -x^2

i) Find the values of A and B such that
f(x) = A - (x+B)^2

ii) State the maximum value of f(x)
