why is it 5/2 and 11/4 for example could you explain why that is?

5/2 x 11/4 = 55/8 = 6 ⅞

2 1/2 x 2 3/4
2 2/4 x 2 3/4
10/4 x 11/4

=110/4 or 27 1/2 (as in 27 and a half)

If simplifing is what i remember it being it would be 3 times 3. So 9
