Any help and steps in solving this would be appreciated!! Thanks!!!

The total cost in dollars for a certain company to produce x empty jars to be used by a jelly
producer is given by the function C(x) = 0.2x + 30,000. Find C(80,000) the cost of producing

C(x) =0.2x +30,000.
now you wrote C(80,000) which makes x= 80,000
now that you have that you plug this into the equation as fllows:

C(80,000)= 0.2(80,000) + 30,000
C(80,000)= 16,000 +30,000
C(80,000) = 46,000

Understand that C is a function of x. That means "the total cost to produce jars" changes as the "number of jars" change. When 80,000 is put in place of 'x' in C(x), it means that x = 80,000
So, we simply put this value of 'x' in the expression for C(x). This would give:
C(80,000) = 0.2*80,000 + 30,000

Understand that C(40) would be 0.2*40 + 30,000
Similarly, any other value of 'x' in C(x) would change the total cost appropriately.

Oh c'mon! Your algebra homework is only two steps! You'd get faster results using a calculator. Multiply 80,000 by 0.2 and then add that answer to 30,000.

then take your happy hand and write C(80000) = answer

You just plug 80,000 into anywhere there is an "x".

C(80,000) = 0.2 (80,000) + 30,000

C(80,000) = 16,000 + 30,000

C(80,000) = 46,000

Use a calculator to double check the math.

Simply sub in 80,000 into the equation

0.2(80000) + 30000 = 46000
