To convert degrees to radians, you use this formula

degrees to be converted * pi/180
So we get
165 * pi/180
=33pi/36
=11pi/12 or ~2.879793266r

To convert degrees to radian, the formula is:
say you have are given an Angle A in degrees, then to convert it to radian, then it's
A*pi/180, in your case A=165 degrees
165*pi/180= ((33*pi)/36)=11*pi/12, If you were given an angle in radian, to turn it to degrees you would multiply it by 180/pi. If you multiply 11*pi/12 by 180/pi, you will see that it gives you 165 degrees.

Use this simple formula.

360 degs = 2 pi radians.
therefore 1 deg = 2 pi / 360 radians
therefore 165 degrees = 165 * 2 * pi / 360 = 11/12 pi radians

I think you can leave the answer at that unless you are asked to approximate it in decimal.

To help you in tests where answers are already given, and you are to choose the best one, the strategy is this.

Note that pi = 3.14 and that pi= 180 degrees.
So anything less than 180 degress like 165 degrees is going to be less than 3.14.

Use ratio and proportion : 165/180 = x/3.14
Solving for x = 2.88. Note that this answer 2.88 is less than 3.14 which makes sense because 165 is less than 180.

Also remember that 360 degrees is 2pi or 6.28 and 90 degrees is one half of 180 or one half of 3.14 which is 1.57. Use these points as your guideposts to quickly solve problems.

Also, note that the students who score high in these tests, for the most part do not actually solve the problems, but eliminate all incorrect answers and choose which one makes sense, solving backwards.

Good luck!

165(π / 180) =

The common factor of 165 and 180 is 15

165 divided by 15 = 11

180 Divided by 15 = 12

The equation becomes

11π / 12. . .radian

Use the ratio

x radians / pi = given angle in degrees / 180

x radians / pi = 165 /180

x radians = (pi)(0.916666667) = 2.87833333 = 2.89 radians
