Let f_n be a sequence of real valued functions that converges on a set X (it can be a subset of R^n, or any metric space) to a function f. Suppose that

(a) The sequence f_n is monotonic (the sequence, not the functions)
(b) X is compact
b) The functions f_n, n=1,2,3... and f are continuous

Show that the convergence of f_n to f is uniform on X.

Are there any actual strategical card games that involve adding/subtracting etc? Most games have you match or go up and down, in my opinion there's no strategy to those games and you don't 'build brain cells with them'. I'm also trying to help a relative practice math. It can be anything you can think of from very easy to very hard. Please state the name of the game and if you can take a minute to find a website, that would be great! :)
Thanks

Let (X, M u) be a measure space, where X is a set, M is a sigma-algebra on X and u is a measure defined on M. Let f_n be a sequence of functions defined on X and with values on [0, oo] such that lim f_n = f. Suppose that lim Integral f_n du = Integral f du < oo (the integrals taken over X).

Show that, for every set E of M, Integral_E f_n du = Integral_E f du, where Integral_E means integral over E. Also, show that this conclusion may fail if we have lim Integral f_n du = Integral f du = oo

Thank you.

I have a final project due tomorrow for my class, What Is Mathematics. I have to relate something to math in my own style, but I can't think of anything that's really interesting. I was thinking maybe it could do with food or something like that, but I'm open to any ideas. Once again, it's COLLEGE LEVEL, no nothing really easy please.
