For Algebra 2 and etc. is it absolutely mandatory that you need a graphing calculator? If it is what kind do you have? (If you have one.) I wanted to know this because I bought a TI-84 plus today, and i was wondering if I didn't need one because i already have a TI-34 2nd. Also if it was better to by a TI-84 plus silver addition, TI-85 plus or TI-85 plus silver addition. Thanks!

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

pictures may be helpful if your explaining to me having to draw it out and see for myself.
or a good worded explanation w/o me having to mentally or physically picture something. this would be way better because i need to do homework explaining this.

An idealized model of a river flowing around a rock considers a circular rock of radius 1 in the river, which flows across the xy-plane in the positive x-direction. A simple model begins with the potential function .z=x + (x/(x^2+y^2))

a.) Compute the velocity vector field, i.e. . v=grad z

b.) Show that the flow of v is tangent to the circle x^2 + y^2 =1 . This means that no water crosses the circle. The water on the outside must therefore all flow around the circle.

c.) Show that div v=0 . What is the meaning of this in the context of the problem?

So, for math we're doing the math game 24. For those who don't know, it's a game where you need to use math in order to have 4 numbers reach 24(ex:9x3-2-1). In the standard rules you can only use addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division but if you can find other ways I'll accept those answers as well(ex: (6x4)(1^3)).

So, anyways my teacher asked if we could get all possibilities 1-9 with no repeats, here's the ones I got stuck on:
8 1 6 7
8 2 5 7
9 2 5 6
9 1 4 5
7 3 4 6
9 5 6 7
thanks.
