in Algebra 2 you do things for which you need a graphing calculator. I know because I have to help my friend with programming for that class all the time. I have a TI-89 and a TI-84 plus silver. Most classes don't allow you to use a TI-89 so I guess TI-84 or TI-85 would be good.

No, it's not absolutely mandatory unless you go to a private school (meaning a school where you pay the tuition)

it depends were you take your class, i took mine at a community collegde and we hardly used a calculator but at my highschool they use them to make programs, movies, games, etc. a T-84 is probably the best cause if you have the silver addition they may not let you use it cause it is too advanced...hope it helps.
