What are the basic things I need to know before I start to learn geometry? I want to teach myself, which I know is hard, so I can further my studies in calculus. I'm trying to learn all of the foundations. Can someone give me some tips to making my learning by myself effective.

Thank you

Find maximum value of f(x) = -5x^2-10x+6

Solve x^2 = 4x by graphing and indicating the roots

solve x^2 + 2x = -2 by graphing and indicating the roots

If you could explain how to do these too that would be great so I would know how to work it out when it comes to the test, I read my book but I just don't get how to do it.

Can someone explain to me how I do this?
I have to graph this inequality

y > –2(0, -2) and (2, 0)

Also, I think that if I end up with a greater than symbol I shade above the line, and a less than symbol means to shade it below the line. Is this correct? Thanks

The circumference of a sphere was measured to
be 70 cm with a possible error of 0.9 cm. Use differentials
to estimate the maximum error in the calculated surface area.
Estimate the relative error in the calculated surface area.
Hint: The circumference of a sphere of radius r is C = 2pr,
and its surface area is A = 4pr2. Eliminate r first!

Hello.
I'm presently a college freshman, interested in mathematics and computer science. I thought about majoring in physics, but I don't think I would enjoy working as a physicist.
So now I'm considering majoring in math, with my support field in computer science. I'm just sort of afraid that I may turn out sucking at high-level math, or something? I'm taking calculus 1 now and I guess I'm okay at it.
Is majoring in math generally a good idea? What sort of careers can I expect out of it?
I don't really know what I want to do. Just whatever doesn't suck.
I don't want to be a teacher. I'd rather a velociraptor eat my face.

There is a flight of stairs. If you go up them 2 at a time, there is one left over. If you go up 3 at a time, there are 2 left over; 4 at a time there are 3 left over; 5 at a time there are 4 left over; 6 at a time there are 5 left over; and 7 at a time there are none left over. How many stairs are there, and could you show me the steps involved in ariving at the answer (no pun intended).
