What are the basic things I need to know before I start to learn geometry? I want to teach myself, which I know is hard, so I can further my studies in calculus. I'm trying to learn all of the foundations. Can someone give me some tips to making my learning by myself effective.

Thank you

If it is high school Geometry, then you should learn all the postulates for triangles, circles, parallel lines, etc, and then work on proofs based on those postulates.

Well make sure you know the basic properties of arithmetic and Algebra. Many of these properties will be used in Geometry.

I recommend you go to the web site that has the complete Euclid's Elements. It includes applets that allow you to clearly see the explanations.

Yes, get down to you local library and get a GCSE level revision book in Maths, look for the geometry section and start from there, after that you could get more advanced books in that particular area of the mathematics.
